My 75 year old aunt just got a computer and the last time I was over there my family told me that since I'm tech savvy I can teach her how to use it....

One time a client for a sh computer took the mouse and floating it in the air to move the pointer on the screen. I hardly keep the laugh inside, and told him that in only works on the mouse pad so he should place it back down.

Once, on a client meeting, I forgot my laptop and we had to use my client's desktop PC.
The man restarted windows every 2 minutes or so, I didn't pay attention why he did that because I was busy explaining to him what we had to do for his website. The client was around 60 years old.
But, time came for me to show him stuff on the PC, and after showing him a website to demonstrate a point, I asked him to open a new tab to show him a second example, the dude restarted his PC. I asked him why he did that. His reply was: "that's the only way I know how to access another website".
I was like, someone please wake me up... This shit ain't real, it can't be..
But then I realized that this man didn't use a PC till few years back and he was not tech savvy, at all... Literally it took him 20-30 seconds just to answer his mobile phone, every damn time..
But he was and still is a genius when it comes to agricultural investment, the guy made himself and a lot of investors millions in revenue over the past 20 years. Guess you can't call that man an idiot, now can you?
The point is that not knowing how to use a browser or knowing how to navigate the web doesn't make you an idiot. For us on BHW the internet and hardware technology is our bread and butter but for a fairly large portion of the world, it's nothing more than a curiosity.

Having done application development I like to watch these lost souls and try to figure out what is it that didn't click in their heads. Unfortunately, we all have to deal with the public and bite our tongues. Hey, I remembered the first time I deleted data from a spreadsheet by accident and I had someone remind me that all is well as long as I didn't save the mistake. The look on my face!

Those kind of people always have millions of icons in their system tray from applications they never heard about. Same thing for their favorite browser Internet Explorer which is loaded with weird add-ons and search bars and takes 50% of their browsing screen.

rather than getting angry over lack of tech skills,
write a simple tutorial for beginners and either:
1. sell it as a pdf (instant profit).
2. give it away (instant publicity).
3. post the info on public forums (instant backlinks).
