Ok, so all my computers are Mac except a old laptop and it shit the bed last night - not worth even trying to figure out what is wrong with it - so.....

I am looking for a new PC desktop to use just to run software - I will not use it for anything else. No games, no Internet surfing, not going to "work" on it...just run software.

I don't want to build one...I just want to order one, have it arrive, open it and power it on...

So...what would you consider to be a good pick up? Not looking to spend a ton of $$$ because its just to run software.

If anyone has some suggestions of some awesome deals let me know! Thanks!

Depends on what you mean by "software". Are we talking about video editing programs or notepad text editor? Makes a difference :)

Yeah, sorry....no graphic design, no video editing....just some of the more popular seo software and automated social marketing programs

Get a Corei7 Processor
16 Gigs of RAM
and A Gigabyte Motherboard
Also a 128Gig SSD would be nice.
You can just use the built in GPU.

So just a computer to run SEO software etc? You might want to have a computer with a good CPU and sufficient RAM then. An average computer from a computer store would suffice.

Any suggestions on the best places to purchase from?

If you're just using it for SEO software, have you considered a VPS? You can log in from anywhere and you won't risk your home ISP getting pissed with you.

Nope, didn't think of that...I will have to look into that. Thanks!

Personally I've been hp loyal for every laptop I've ever had they look a lot more well done than the other laptops I've seen

Cheap VPS tend to come with fairly low actual processing speed and ram which makes them pretty much crap for resource demanding work, such as cleaning up a list of 1 mill emails etc. So again depends on what type of SEO stuff you are doing.

I always buy my PCs from ebay. Have two or three sellers there that sell new and refurbished PCs really cheap.

I would try newegg if you can't build, look for an i5 and 6gb of ram, nothing else really matters for you.

Does anyone know of a good website like newegg that accepts payza?

I bought a cheap crappy old 3.2ghz 1gb ram dell pc just to run some BH tools on for $50 shipped on ebay

Bit of overkill for a PC he just wants to turn on, perhaps to save money an i5, 8 gigs of ram? Still would be cheaper than a comparable Mac.

Look on eBay, Lot's of seller's on there with custom made PC's that are pretty cheap and powerful :)

Depending on the software you want to run, you could look into getting a nettop pc, the new intel atoms for them are pretty good, and they don't use much power. A fresh install of windows xp will make them good for a lot of IM software.

Last time I had a nettop with an atom I sent it straight back, useless processors.. they can just about handle multiple browser tabs let alone software :P

What year did you have it? The newer ones seem pretty good.
