Hello,
*WiM* asked me this question earlier: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...ched-their-incentive-network.html#post5243890 and I thought I would put something together for those of you who think using copyrighted/stolen content is the only way to make money with CPA or online in general. While it can be lucrative for some, it?s not particularly sustainable and has a number of legal issues.
I tend to monetize these sites using content locking, but it can generate quite a lot of traffic so you could easily do something different, such as building your own email list and product (Clickbank can work well for this). Products are a bit more work to build, but can be more lucrative in the long run.
People have been coming online for years to search for solutions to problems or answers to questions. Using search engines they can get answers to their questions discretely and without embarrassing themselves. These are the best people to target. They want help with their problems, but they don?t want to ask someone in person, and they don?t necessarily want to pay for the information (no-one wants a bill on their credit card for an embarrassing health problem!).
When it comes to finding the best keywords to target, you have to be creative. Use searches such as ?how do I??, ?what is the best way??, ?how to get rid of??, ?how to remove?? etc. There are millions of problems people search for on a daily basis.
I won?t be giving away my best keywords (obviously) but I will use a generic example for you to get ideas from. I don?t tend to use SEO for my traffic, so I use the Google keyword tool to get ideas rather than searching out niches that aren?t very competitive.
Here?s an example keyword:
?how to get rid of pimples?. This has about 40,000 searches which won?t make you rich, but it?s a good start!
I would build a simple site with some basic articles on the topic. It?s better to write unique content but if you?re not going for organic traffic then it?s not essential, especially if you just want to test the method.
Most people will just be lazy and put Adsense on the site. While this is ?passive? it?s usually one of the worst ways to make money from your site and you are also heavily restricted by Google as to where you can promote (e.g. if the site goes viral you?re in trouble!), whereas with CPA you don?t have this issue.
What I like to do is give them very general advice on the site (or half of the solution) and then hype up an ebook/video/picture that can help them further.
Something like:
Pimples can be a major problem, especially when you are young. There are a number of ways to get rid of pimples. You can start with these five simple steps:
Then give them step 1-3. Then tell them to watch a video/download an ebook to get the final steps.
If the first few tips were good, they will be more than happy to do anything to get the rest of the content. At this stage you can sell them a product (although I find you often need more pre-selling than a short article) or just content lock a video/ebook. The video you can easily just find on YouTube. It doesn?t need to be good as they aren?t paying anything and they can?t see the video until they unlock the content. You won?t have issues with fake content as it will be real? just not particularly good. Ebook wise ? either write something short yourself or find a PLR book on the topic. You can usually buy these for a few dollars on the bigger PLR sites.
This is obviously a VERY basic outline, but should give you an idea which niches to go after. Don?t think you have to use copyrighted content, there are plenty of legitimate niches out there where people are DESPERATE for content. You could also search Clickbank for popular niches (look for high gravity products in obscure niches) and see what people are buying. If they are buying products on the subject? you can be pretty sure they will complete a CPA offer, too!
When it comes to driving traffic, I?m not going to discuss this here. This was more to get people to think more creatively when building sites that make money and to stop people thinking that stealing content is the only way to go (there are so many ?journey? threads on BHW where people are doing PPD with illegal movies/tv shows) that it gets frustrating for me to see!
I wrote this thread about review sites, but it can work equally well however you decide to monetize your sites: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/making-money/359445-easy-100-day-perfect-noobs.html
Happy to answer any questions. Enjoy!
