My family just got royally screwed by a local countertop company. Long story short, they severely damaged my kitchen to the tune of over $20,000 and are refusing to compensate us. I have left negative reviews on a few sites but want to broadcast those sites so as many people as possible see it. I do NOT want to do something unethical etc but want others to know how they treated me. What's the best way of accomplishing this?

-Take them to court
-Call local news with the story, some cities run stories of companies screwing people all the time

Reviews can only go so far. Definitely call up all the local news stations!

If the countertop company wants to be an asshole to you, be an asshole right back.

Also, I had a friend who got cabinets installed in his home and the company did a horrible job and refused to fix the mess they created. He only had to threaten taking them to court, and they came back the next day and redid everything.

How did a counter top cause 20 grand in damage?
20g in my neck of the woods would get a "wow" tricked out kitchen.

Assuming they're the stooges of counter top companies...
While bringing in the counter top, they broke the door. Then they broke off corner of the hallway/kitchen. While removing the previous counter top they ripped the cupboards out. While working around the sink they smashed the pipes and caused the kitchen to flood. While working around the oven the somehow cut the gas pipe and blew the kitchen apart. Then they came back to fix it and accidently parked their truck in the living room.

More likely it was the cupboards were destroyed or the counter top itself was a very nice single cut marble which was chipped.

'm sorry mate, if they did a $20,000 damaged to your kitchen shouldn't you be looking to recover the cost than writing a bad review on the 't'internet?

Put your energy into recovering your money, not wasting it on on negative activity which 'may' help others. I understand where you're coming from; but put your time and effort into sorting out your direct problem, which is a $20k bill!

I definitely agree to jascoken: Canalize your energy for something positive.
For all other stuff: get a lawyer!

Don't let the hatret get you! You will cary all the stones with you, not those idiots!

Get a lawyer to send them an 'intent to sue' letter. They'll probably be a lot more cooperative once they know you are serious and you won't just let them get away with it.

My homeowners insurance is taking care of the damages and will then turn around and sue them. So, in terms of monetary recovery, I'm taken care of. Now, I want to get my story out to as many people as possible. The VP of the company called me an idiot for stating that I would let others know. He said that his company has over 200 employees and that he could easily blast my reviews so that nobody will see them.

Ah, sounds like we want sweet revenge, hmmm? Make your own free blogspot with the right keywords like the name of the company, location, "scam", "incompetent", "damage", "unfair", "fraud" etc etc... I'm sure you can think of more. hehe, also put the name of the owner as a keyword, mention him several times.

His 200 employees won't be able to touch it.

Do decent onpage SEO, no need for offpage I'm sure because there won't be competition for the keywords you're targeting

Also, make a Youtube video with all your keywords too, embed it in your blog.

Now when people are shopping around for a countertop company and do a background check on the company you want to fuck, they'll be fucked. Include your contact info so you can rant away when they call you.

Personally, if I was going to make a full monetary recovery I wouldn't bother...though, if I were hopping mad, stuff could flip.

Good luck

I love cooking the bastards online. Good advice right there but also leverage the power of Ripoff Report. As mentioned, put company, owner and location in title. Mention the same kws in description at least 5-6 times so it sticks. Add pictures and such to back up the claim. If you're still pissed after a month, make another account on ROR and blast them again. ROR never checks validity of any claims and loves reports. You could look like the whole county is blasting their work after a few months. ;-)

Shame on them for not doing what is right. They most likely have insurance also or are bonded so I doubt they're sweating much. With a good SEO campaign you could bury them or at least damage their rep.

Nothing like creating a "CountertopsareusSucks.org" site and then ranking it for the company's name to get someone's attention. Register it anonymous of course.

HAHAHA, I would totally do that too...that's a great tip for if the need were to arise.

I think I'll be watching this thread.

Just do as bertbaby said. Domain name with their company name in the title. It should fall under fair use for this purpose.

Some chick who was working for a SEO firm had a bad breakup with her BF (think he cheated on her?) and then uploaded a bunch of meme-type pictures and seo'd them. If you searched his name, the only thing that would come up would be him and a bunch of funny images.

BHW, LETS UNITE IN THIS CRUSADE AGAINST THIS MEAN ASS COMPANY!!!

Take legal action... will be a lot more efficient than any inspired movement you want to achieve.
Honestly, leaving bad reviews won't get your far. Getting a lawyer might get your money + compensation.

OP mentioned he will get a full monetary recovery already, I think OP wants to:

1. Warn others about the company so that they won't have to go through the same hardships as him (which was pretty bad)
2. Get some payback

I think this is an interesting thread because what we're discussing can be applied many ways, both justified and unjustified. It's funny because someone who has black hatting knowledge can easily be underestimated by folks who have absolutely no idea what a 'black hatter' is, which could get them into trouble with the wrong guy. Mess with the bull, and you get the horns.

Ok, I created the website carstinbrandsucks dot com. Please bear with me as the site itself is very rudimentary as I just threw it together this morning to get it up and running. I am a lot more creative then what the site shows at this point. I will not pretend to know SEO. I would happily pay someone to help me do the site SEO work so that I can make sure this site stays front and center on the search engines. Please let me know if you're interested. Thanks for all of your advice and I sincerely hope that my ordeal with be able to help others from encountering the same type of treatment that we've received!

Shoulda Coulda Woulda probably when they were in your house they were also frustrated because they couldn't get things to click. When a contractor jumps in the truck at end of day spirits are higher when they think "man that door we installed looks sweet" and not thinking "great now I have to fix a gunched wall Curtis bumped f$#kin stoner".

I would take nycdude's comment into consideration.

Not to bring mine into the mix but my subs range from 10 to 30 count and maybe 5 lifers. They are all walks of life from college kids to OMG Artemio get his ass out of here. I know at any given time I could call on many of them if I played dirty pool.

My point is if he spoke to you like that over the phone,,, how big are them horns?

Good Luck!
