Hello BHW,

I make my main living on eBay and noticed something pretty interesting a few days ago. For one anytime a company closes its door you need to think about the product gap in the market and how the consumer will respond.

This is the Twinkies method...I know it sounds like a joke but it is real. Basically I have been selling boxes of Twinkies for
50 per piece and buying the from dollar store shops. The profit is massive and I am clearing out shelves of Twinkies.

So if you are a New to eBay and need a start then I would pay a visit to the nearest store with
Twinkies left. This method is like smoke in air and will not last long since the supply will run out. However for now it is a good way to get some cash in your pocket and a feel for eBay. .

This is also a good lesson to start doing more market research. If a company is closing up take action and do something about it

That's all and good luck peddling those sugary snacks.
Mike

i heard about this, but I didn't think they were selling so well. I see about 2K active twinkies listings right now and not a lot of buyers. Are you doing any outside advertising or just relying on eBay's traffic?

Twinkies last a long time... I suggest you sit on them for about a year or so and then sell for 10x that much. Fried twinkies are like crack.

I don't see anyone paying $50 a box for twinkies, like really? There are even knock off twinkies that are the same thing.

I been seeing them selling from 10K and down...

Just add the tt back and see...:)

Wish I could buy a truck load...

wtf I got like 15 boxes of twinkies from my local supermarket how much would that fetch me?

How in the world can someone sell some cakes for $10,000 in an auction that only had 5 views????

They're not worth $10,000 and aren't making anything like that on Ebay. The one that sold for $10,000 was a charity auction, so that would explain the high price. Normally, they're going for around $10 per box, which is still good if you can source them for $1 or whatever.

10k for a cake?

How in the world does that work?

Right now is a good time to be buying wholesale/bulk lots of twinkies on eBay and selling them as individual packages on eBay. The market for people willing/able to make a purchase of $500 for twinkies on eBay is incredibly low.

For example, here is a listing that sold with 10 boxes for $149.00, lets assume all items are regular twinkies. That is 200 twinkies, with an individual price of .75 cents per twinkie. This is still a bit high, but isn't bad. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hostess-Twi...252?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a2621615c

Here is one of the latest listings. A twinkie goes for $5.99.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hostess-Twi...622?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c69f8d6ce

If we undersold by a penny for $5.98, we would make $2.40 per twinkie after offering free shipping but actually paying $1.20. With 200 twinkies in your possession, you are making $480. Chances are, they will be sold within a week.

This isn't factoring in things like the increase in value they will have in 2 months which might fetch 150% more than the current going rate.

As soon as I read the news of possibly going out of business on Yahoo I believe, I went out and bought about 30 boxes. It was announced officially the next day and I went out and bought 170 boxes of twinkies from Walmarts, Hostess Stores, Gas Stations, Grocery Stores, etc. Average price is about 2.50 per box, and I did sell them as a box for the first 100 of them which have made me about $3500, now I'm holding them for a month and selling them as individual packages.

At first I thought these will only sell in the USA, however, I noticed that even in Germany they are of interest:

However, big problem is high shipping cost like $14 for 1 pack

I worked for the company...I should have asked for boxes of cakes before they shut the doors.

Question: Does anyone have twinkies and wants them to sell?
We could do dropshipping, I would offer them on eBay in Germany.

Love how some say its not possible when I have cash in my hand and it looks like some other members
are cashing in on this to =)
