Hi, so I outsourced my SEO for a (semi) MNS to someone but he screwed up and it disappeared from the SERPs a couple of weeks ago. I'm trying to figure out what the problem is to try to recover it. I do have to tell that this is an EMD..
Anyway.. My 1th tier mainly consists out of contextual links but I have discovered that the articles are not really unique and long (+/-250 words). They are readable though.
I have around 53 backlinks from 29 referring domains. Backlinks are devided as follow;
33 to main domain
12 to keyword 1
7 to keyword 2
1 to keyword 3

Below is a screenshot from my anchors

I'm currently using GSA SER to keep building links. I'm using high pr (3 and above) contextual links with high anchor diversity. Do you think this will help?

I hate to break it to you dude, but I don't think your SEO dude screwed up your site at all.

How come? The site disappeared after the links started indexing.. I personally don't see what went wrong but sites don't disappear just like that, do they?

my sites love to disappear just like that lol, Most never come back, Some come back ten times better, but i have that much going on i can never pin point the problem

When did it disappear exactly, which date? it being an EMD I would increase on Blank URLs , as your Brand = KW

I don't see how it could remotely be related to your SEO guy with that little amount of backlinks, instead I would say, looking at the date you say this happened, it had everything to do with your EMD that you set up.

This might help you determine...

I see, so let's say that this is really the effect of the EMD update.. Would this be a considerable option: Forget about the EMD, delete everything from it, keep the content and use it on a new domain (non EMD of course), make it a more authoritive site with more content and try to rank the pages instead of the main domain for the keyword? So basically this;

www.redapplesfactory.com/red-appels ranking for keyword "red apples" instead of www.redapples.com
How are chances with ranking a page from a brand domain vs an EMD nowadays?

I think in order to really judge what you should do we'd have to actually see the site and the content on the site, as well as gauge the 'emd-ness' of the emd. Is it like blatantly spammy, or is it really something as 'marketable' as RedApples.Com?

Alright, but aside from this particular EMD (I have a couple of other ones that are hit) do you think the plan I wrote in my previous post would work for those "spammy" EMDs? I'd like to know how ranking pages vs EMDs compares. Are they more difficult or did the last EMD update really remove all the emd power of a domain, giving pages and domains equal ranking possibilities?

PM'd you about this, I think theres some other stuff that needs worked on. Your domain just does not have enough backlinks pointing to it in general, etc. Ranking EMDs is a tad bit harder, but yours shouldnt be. It has more to do with having a lot less spammy content on the site/layout mixed with a different backlink strategy.

Since it dissapeared on September it might been EMD update. I'm sure the links have nothing to do with this but more your domain or content but you have to provide more information about that.

the september update removed the value of EMD's with poor quality scores. Your SEO dude hopefully did his end right and you are just caught in the EMD trap. Work on your meta, onsite content, and offsite content. Also, you need a higher % of naked links - move away from anchor text, google is seeing heavy anchor text as a bad signal.

I think you mean, you screwed up not the guy you outsourced the work too. Don't blame someone else for your mistakes.

Well, I knew this was coming.. You don't have the right to make such a statement as you don't know anything of the agreement on the SEO plan he laid out for me. By screwing up I'm not only referring to the fact that my site disappeared from the serps, but more to the fact that this person did not do what he told me he was going to do. Whether all of this is the result of the EMD update or not, he still screwed up big time by making false promises..

Again, don't blame someone else, blame yourself. Learn SEO or else you are going to get burned again and again. That's not his fault your a chump and I don't mean that in a disrespectful way. If you aren't going to put in the time to learn SEO yourself, you should NOT do SEO at all.

That's a very ignorant way of looking at things.

It's like saying anyone you procure to have services done in life is entitled to do a shit job because you should know how and have the time to do it yourself. If that was the case we would all be living in caves still. The real way to make money is to leverage your time and skill by using that of others. Anyone succesful in business knows this golden rule.

Uhm, dude, there was a non-penguin non-panda update aimed SPECIFICALLY at EMD's that came out about the 26th of September, if not that day specifically.

It looks like your site got hit with that. I don't know much about it (didn't really have much to do with my online strategy, so I haven't studied it much yet) but it looks like that is a result of onsite factors more-so than offsite factors, though it will be a mixture of both.

How can I tell someone what to do when I don't know how to do it myself? "Hey, can you do some SEO for me? I don't know anything about it but I'm going to outsource it and hope you can do a great job for me!"

I know this might work for other sectors, but in SEO field where there are tons of scammers and wannabies, it's like driving drunk with a blindfold on.

It isn't being ignorant, it is being rational.
