Penguin refresh = link reevaluation and applying negative link juice, or removing dead links (seemingly)
This is why new sites are rarely, if ever, affected.

I'm really wondering why they do as many updates... Either they make mistake they try to fix desesperatly or they want to confuse us throwing every single update they can.

And 0.3% is quite significant in Google's scale...

More like all SEO alltogether. There are millions of websites, hundreds of millions, actually. 90% of their owners don't even know what SEO is. Only a few % of people do seo, so 0.3% could be easily everyone doing or even hearing about SEO. And another thing, I don't think google targets rankings #100 and beyond in the updates...so if just the top rankings change, the % can be close to zero and hits everyone.

Just to be clear, Google talks about total queries, but roughly 80% of all queries are long tail...
however, a huge portion of all TRAFFIC actually flows through a tiny fraction of queries...

Disingenuous behavior from Google goes along with every update.

7 sites got hit. hmm, gotta wait for it to settle though before doing anything, some of my sites dance when an update comes and comes back strong after the update. well fingers crossed, also preparing another domain to 301 if all things falter.

Dont worry .... its part of google game ... rinse and repeat and dont depend 100% on google ... try social media as well

these google updates are awful...google is one of the biggest corporations in the world, waging war against the super small business man in all of us...its pretty fucked up...not sure what to say beyond this, but its BIG business against the little guy and unfortunately the little guy always loses...

What about non-English sites? Anyone felt the impact yet in Europe for instance? Google precised the update will be rolled out at the same time for other languages... Just curious.
