Need a Video Screen Capture Program -- What is the best one?

What is the best program to capture video of my desktop while I am working on it?
I would need this for video tutorials I am going to be creating for a website.

Also, how much will this cost as I am pretty broke at the moment

I use Camtasia, a bit pricey, but nice software.

I have used Camstudio in the past, it's decent and it's free.

Camtasia has free vesion called "Jing", though has 5 min limitation of video recording.

hypercam is definitely not a freeware, it has a free trial though i guess with annoying watermarking

I really like screencast-o-matic it is something like $18 for a year and it has a ton of great features and they are constantly updating it.

Camtasia is the best everyone knows that. The new version is suppose to kick ass.

Camtasia is a good software for desktop recording, but if you're going to do some screen recording of PC Games use Fraps. Both cost money but they have trials or free versions and generous versions if you look hard enough on the web.

I would also recommend Camtasia. Somebody mentioned SnagIt. It's also a great software created by Techsmith but it focuses more on screenshots. There are missing a few nice Video features but for short clips without transitions and stuff like this, SnagIt is good enough.

I agree another good one for Mac is screenflow however it is not free.
