GoDaddy is Busted

Godaddy keeps doing this from time to time. Their business runs on newbies who are new to internet, they don't know any other company and purchase it from godaddy.

This happened to me when I was buying some international domains that were only available through Marcaria. I threatened to take them to court (knowing that this would do nothing, but thought I would try anyway) and they actually released the domains in question.

Sometimes with GoDaddy if you search for a domain inside your account area it will come up unavailable, but then if you search again from the homepage it shows as being available. The problem with this shit is that there is no legal recourse for when this happens because it's impossible to prove that you searched for it just minutes or hours prior, and even if you could prove it, searching for it doesn't entitle you to anything if you didn't purchase it right then.

Godaddy keeps doing this from time to snatch up.o time. Their business runs on newbies who are new to internet, they don't know any other company and purchase it from godaddy.

Bingo, that's one reason why they so heavily advertise offline and on TV, to attract noobs whose domain inquiries give them a heads up as to which names to snatch up.

GoDaddy is the worst scummiest registrar in history. Honestly, they can eat it.

I thought that I was the only paranoid, but it's nothing about being paranoid down here. Some domain registrants sites, do store the searched data. They have some small crew who looks up on the latest searched entries, and whatever is found free, they take fast action regarding that, to register it and such. Even so, I find my claims surrounded just by some sort of conspiracy, so I can't really vouch for it. A recommendation? internet.bs FTW! also, the best customer support ever!

I was a little confused/pi--ed off two days ago with them. I found some great high adsense low competition keywords (EMD) and I had them in my cart and went all the way to buying them and poof!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was kicked out of the page. Then I restarted the process to find that they were now in public auction for $250 a pop. WTF! I never thought they were that big of crooks. Unbelievable!! I have a namecheap account but sometimes I get coupons for 35 to 40% off so I was going to use them. I will never use Go daddy ever again!

We discussed this a couple of months ago in another thread. I added to the thread stating to NEVER check to see if a domain name is available without your credit card in hand and buying the domain on the spot. It happened to me and it has happened to others. It was also admitted to me that they can see everything you're doing, and if you exit the screen without making the purchase, they (and it's any company, not just godaddy) will buy the name if they like it.

Had similar experience it was midnight and I checked a domain my card did not work so I thought of calling up my bank and buying it in the morning at 8am I called up my bank and solved the problem and boom domain was booked. There was no way anyone could book that domain because it was not even a dictionary word but it sounded cool for a project I wanted to start. Never again Go Daddy ever in my life.

We should all absolutely use GD...but only with their best coupons. Then transfer. Just look up domains elsewhere, then hit it at GD with a card and a coupon right next to you!

Yah, you know the domain tasting should be made illegal. GoDaddy should be punished for this, and for SOPA and for general all-around sleazieness. Where is there corporate headquarters? Who owns it? Where do they live? Someone could start a "GoDaddySucks.com" type of site and start documenting who's who, what they do, what political campaigns they contribute to, how many DUI's their executives have had, who they purchase their pot from, where they find their prostitutes, etc...

ive had this happen with namecheap ... just shows you ... buy directly from enom

Yes, TRUE. I searched one .com domain name in godaddy few days before. The search results says "No, Its not available. Order through Domain backorder service". Few mins later I searched that same domain name in another registrar website. The result "Domain is available for Registration". Then I register that same domain name with another registrar :)

It's happened to me too. Don't use godaddy to check domains. NameCheap is the way to go.

This has happened with me several times, esp when i am buying expired domains with PR, i search the domain on GD and when i know it is available i go for buying and boom! it's already bought (probably by GD)

what was the domain name? If it was a good one, then someone probably bought it. Go with namesilo, better than that virus of a web site GD.

yep this is nothing new. I wont even work with a customer that has godaddy for hosting now. I am so tired of the stuff they pull.
