First VPS..need help to setup..

Hello..I am newbie in this vps system..I would like to ask some about VPS, I have buy a vps from bermanhostingg yesterday, my question is..
1. Do i have to treat vps like my own pc, install antivirus,antimalware,firewall,..etc
2. Do i need a cpanel to transfer file to my vps? and can i used cpanel in bermanhosting? (for who also use bermanhosting). They suggest me to used webmin control panel. But it has screwed my head, I cant install it.. I just submit a support ticket, but they reply it so slow, wait a couple of hours, and the answer also doesn't solve my problem..
3. I just get started and doesn't install any software or program but why my vps is so slow? Is bermanhosting a bad hosting? I have just read much review for this hosting, and it looks like a right choice, but this what I have now...

1. Yes, it is like your PC but I suggest not to install any anti-virus, etc.
2. You can directly copy-paste files from your PC to VPS.
3. You can test the net speed by speedtest online.

I have been searching for hours how to easily transfer files to my vps..and it just copy paste..at:
Its not the internet speed..the vps itself running slowly..its like the ram its not enough..but I dont run any program or software yet and its used 1gb ram..

So i think you need control panel to manage your server. it's very simple to manage it.
Some host already add control panel and some is not.
If not you can install by yourself (don't worry it's simple).
Let search about "kloxo" on google. Kloxo is control panel it's free.

3. You can test speed by ping to you server.

Yes, i have bought hosting at berman after read much a good review about them, but they seem not very friendly, took a couple of hours to reply my ticket, and the answer not really help me..and their vps running a bit slow, i thought it can running smoothly like my own pc..or it is all vps from other hosting may running slowly than normal pc???

You mention windows SEO tools, so you want to use a windows VPS and access it via remote desktop.
Klaxo, webmin and cPanel etc are for hosting websites, which is probably why you are confused (and probably confused berman support as well!)

Did you order a windows VPS, rather than a linux one?

If yes, you would have recieved an email like this:

When connected, it will show a regular windows desktop, and you can use it just like your normal desktop.

Oh..thanks..i got that..and for my vps..maybe it's running a bit slowly because of latency in the link speed..since i am from asia and bermanhosting based on eu..that's what they tell me..

Good, so you are able to connect via remote desktop and upload files etc?

As to speed, berman servers are quick, your location is probably the issue. The good thing is that its just the screen refresh that is slow, any tools you run will go at full speed, though i dont use UD so you need to check 1GB ram is enough.

Ya I just signed up with them. Its probably a little laggy because the 1gb of ram but the dl speed is really good. I like it so far might have to upgrade the ram though. I'm usingv dropbox to transfer files but I'm sure there's a better way

Ohh I did have a question about opening the task manager without cntrl alt del via remote desktop connection. Cuz that just opens my main comps task manager.

The easiest way to transfer files is by using Dropbox. Sync it seamlessly. If don't wanna do that way then you can install filezilla server on your vps and filezilla client on your pc, connect both and then transfer your file.
