GSA Search Engine Ranker - Extremely Powerful Linkbuilding Software (Free 5 Day Trial)

Can someone test out the sitelist feature and let me know if you're able to get the files to save in a folder you choose? No matter which folder I pick, it automatically saves the site list to the appdata folder.

I've tried on two machines and it happens the same on both.

If anyone else is having this issue, please let me know so I can let Sven know about the bug.

This is the issue I was talking about. I cannot get it to save in whatever folder I want. by default it saves to the appdata roaming folder. :/

Same thing is happening here. Seems to be a bug.

For when new engines are added it would be great to have a "Automatically set newly added engines as active/inactive" setting. Otherwise, it takes forever to go through each project individually to activate them.

An additional suggestion I put in some time ago, but not sure if it is being considered or not, is to add another column to the main project window for "priority" and be able to set the project priority (high, normal, low, lowest) for all projects from one central place (in the same way we click in the column to make projects active/inactive). If this were implemented we'd be able to see the priority settings for all projects at a glance and adjust accordingly. It would also mean it could be removed from an already cluttered project data window to make room for something else. Anyone else need this?

For new engines all you have to do is select all your projects in the project window > right click > modify project > edit only engines/option. This will make changes to every project you have selected.

For your second idea, I completely forgot about that but its a great idea and I'm going to remind Sven now. I also agree with you on anything we can remove from the cluttered project options screen would be great ha.

Already emailed Sven the bug, I'm sure he'll have it fixed in tomorrows update as usual. :)

For new engines all you have to do is select all your projects in the project window > right click > modify project > edit only engines/option. This will make changes to every project you have selected.

I also initially thought it was possible to do it this way but instead it looks like doing so can really mess up your individual project settings for at least one of the selected projects.

For example, lets say I have two projects, one is set to submit to all platforms, the other is set to submit to, say, just three. If I select both projects and right click > modify project > edit only engines/options, then select or deselect the engines I want and click 'ok' it will completely overwrite one of the projects platform settings so that it either has all platforms selected or just three, or however many were originally selected. What it appears to do is use the settings from the project that is highest up in your list of selected projects. Reverse the project list beforehand and you'll again see it overwrites with the settings from the project that is highest in the list.

As such, this function only seems to work if the selected projects are setup to use an identical set of platforms and engines but if they differ in any way it really screws things up once you click that ok button. I can't imagine that it was intended to work this way. Ideally, it should only change the items you have selected/deselected and leave everything else intact. Do think its another bug?

For your second idea, I completely forgot about that but its a great idea and I'm going to remind Sven now. I also agree with you on anything we can remove from the cluttered project options screen would be great ha.

Many thanks!

Ya I understand. I tried .. but some things might actually over complicate the software for new users. He might be able to add something in the future for this. I personally don't use the indexer/referrer/pingbacks in my projects and I know a lot of other people don't as well because you don't get much value from those links. It might be best to just not work with those platforms.
ye i dont use those engines on tier 1 links anymore either, but if u have the analyse/post to competitor links option on, SER still posts to them anyway, plus i dont usually build lower tiers to nofollow links as there is no point, so it is a task to have to manually import 'all' verified URLs from other projects on a regular basis (again and again), sort, delete, re-verify, delete some more (many of the same URLs again and again) then let rip to build lower tiers. would have been much easier to just regularly deselect bunches of verified URLs from being used further down.

I think sitelist_Forum_UseBB.txt instead of sitelist_UseBB.txt will be better.

Is anyone encountering an issue where the program slows down dramatically after a long period of use? I thought the issue occurred due to me importing a large list for all of my projects, but i deleted the cache, and instead relied upon GSA SER finding the sites to create backlinks on, and it still done the same thing. For example, last night i set it up with 15 projects to run. It was set at 100 threads, and ran fine for the first couple of hours. However, waking up this morning, it's running as though the thread count had been lowered to about 10. The memory usage seemed to be the same, but the CPU utilization had come right down from about 80% when going to bed at night, to around 2% when waking up in the morning. The program itself seemed ok, i could navigate the windows without it freezing etc, but it's performance in creating and finding backlinks had slowed considerably.

I've noticed for the some of the article sites that GSA tries to verify "submit.php"

If this is the case, it will never verify the link?!!

And with Article Friendly, it signs up and then tries to login instantly and you get an error message about not being an 'active author' or something? Surely it should try to sign in and submit after it has verified the emails?! So far I can't log in to one Article Friendly site.

Also, the article submissions sometimes ask for a country. Can this be filled in automatically or an option to choose country? Unless you manually enter the country the registration fails.

3.53 - new: import URLs to site lists (download URLs + identify the used engine)
- new: ability to get chart for engine types instead of engine name
- fix: setting for site list folder was ignored
- new: ability to use site lists for projects
- new: priority setting in project list
3.52 - new: option to add already verified URLs to site

I'll ask Sven about these and get back to you.

I just purchased it 15 minutes ago, but plimus emailed that order is being reviewed by staff and can take upto 12 hours to clear. Has anybody from India bought this. Do you have to wait for that long?

It's a fraud check and it happens quite often. I wouldn't worry about it, it usually ends up going through within a few hours. I believe its a manual review.

Heard alot of good stuff about GSA , Going to check out the trial for a day or so then purchase :)

Good stuff!

I have a suggestion for Sven: Turn off your computer and take a week off!
I am kind of worried the guy is going to burn out with all the requests he keeps getting, and that would be a real shame.

That said, if he could document the scripting engine (eg how ini files are built, yeah i know ive asked about this a lot) and add a debug mode (i will explain in a bit) then he could go on vacation and let the community work for him rather than tie him up with a thousand emails.

My idea for a good debugging mode (others please comment as we all test differently):

1. Limit max connections and max sites processed so people dont use debug mode all the time then complain its slow :-)

2. Write log to a sortable listview rather than a textbox. That way you can sort on the columns to group things easily (i can write an app to do this from an existing text log if Sven doesnt want to do this, but i hope he will).

3. Save the downloaded html (to a temp directory) for each site, and add a clickable link to the corresponding file in an extra column in the log, so we can inspect for our selves what went wrong.
EG:

HTML:
[08:16:51] | web.com: | [-] 007/183 | can`t get question text http://www.target.com | C:\gsa\temp\sources\007.html (clickable)

This will be slow and take up space, hence point 1, but will help us see what is really going on behind the scenes.

With a well documented scripting engine (ini file) guide and a good debug mode, he will get nice emails like:

Hello Sven, i have updated the 'x' platform to cover versions 3.x which have a different profile url. I have also attached a new platform 'xxxx' it is currently about 70% successful. Have a nice day and bad luck about the football!

EDIT

Until this happens, i do have some questions that could help me a lot.

How does text captcha solving work ( i see a text_captcha.dat file, it seems to be plain text), and how can i check if a particular platform is attempting to use the built in solve method (I do NOT see references to this dat file in the few engines i checked)?
I would like to believe that any engine that needs it uses this file somehow, but it seems many engines work in different ways, eg: 1 engine will look for a register link then click it. Another engine will scrape using inurl opporators, so it only finds register pages (for example, phpBB does this). If i import a list of sites with homepages for this engine, it wont work.

Provided text_captcha.dat is/can be implemented, can i add to it manually? For example xrummer 7 has a massive list, im sure i could acquire it.

If it can be added to manually, i have a feature request (i get the irony): Have to option to save text captchas encountered to a file. That way i can run a huge list, then open the file and answer the questions in one go (or pay someone to do so :-) ), add them to text_captcha.dat, then rerun the list. This would be far more efficient than sitting in front of the screen and typing into popup windows.

Finally, just to note that even if this software never got updated again, its still worth many times the price.

if u can add to the text captcha ability, how about emailing sven (or s4nt0s) the list so sven can include it in a future update? i would very much appreciate it and im sure all other users would too! :)

speaking of the text captcha, i have noticed a few pop up windows asking for text captcha responses, was this always the case and i just never caught it or is it something new (that is already recording our responses for future use?)

Finally, just to note that even if this software never got updated again, its still worth many times the price.
agreed! sven (and s4nt0s) deserve much kudos! thanks guys! :)

im a bit slow today, can anyone clarify what the download urls bit means? is it referring to downloading for example AA lists or is it referring to running in some kind of search mode only? :-/

the ability to use site lists for projects is a nice new feature too! :)

Hi all, I've noticed something odd with Article submissions. This was for the Article Friendly site, I managed to get some to submit but some don't, and I've been getting a lot of this error message.

11:06:10: [-] 02/87 submission failed (we're sorry, but your article is below our minimum)

I then went to the job, and bought up the test page and took the same information and submitted it manually. It worked fine.

I've been article marketing for a long time, using tools like AMR. So I've done everything I know to get it to submit. I found this a bit odd. Is there a way to get more information about what exactly was the problem with submission because the article meets the standard when submitted manually.

Good question, if it does record responses I might type a few in!

This is a feature I requested. It will allow you to scrape lists in scrapebox, or get AA lists from somewhere else. You can then have it scan them and put them into the site lists it now creates. The download part is referring to the fact that it will visit the site and figure out what engine it is.

What this allows us to do now is to feed in a LOT of lists, without the attempts to post to them or anything else. It will just sort them out into the right file for the engine matched. It will be a fast way to get a lot of sites per engine really quick. Then you can feed them into GSA projects to use.
