Nice setup. Just wondering why you get AMD processor instead of new Intel Ivy Bridge i7 which is much better in my opinion. I also use AMD graphic card (HD6850 to be exact) but I would get Nvidia if I have budget like you.

I've always used Intel but it seems to be wildly overpriced. To get a similar Intel processor would cost 3-4x more. I'm not overly studied on the subject though I was going on recommendation.

looks great. Personally not making any changes until Windows 8 and touch screen compatible PCs are released in a few months.

I don't think I'll be using Windows 8 unless it comes out with some phenomenal game-changing updates. If they just move everything around and make me re-learn windows it will just cause me more programming woes.

Not sure about diablo 3....productivity killer

Personally, I would go for the Ivybridge cpus. Other than that looks beastly

Diablo 3 has killed the last 2 weeks of my life. It's digital crack. I played a lot of D2 back in the day so I couldn't help myself. I think this CPU is strong enough. With the Crosshair V motherboard my performance meters show all 8 cores working at 4.2ghz. I couldn't imagine needing more than that.

Like the reply above I see my 8 cores hussling at 4.2ghz (I think because of the motherboard - I could be wrong). I'm not really sure what people have against it. Could you elaborate?

I keep telling myself to stop haha. I've taken the first step back to productivity today I've got to get off the digital crack that is Diablo 3 . It's very tough to moderate myself.

Anyway, Intel is better for normal applications while AMD is better in gaming.

Whats the best in this that you have so much memories with your old PC that you can't throw him out so you just leave it in place at your house but you would never throw it out It's like your old dog I do everything on my Sony Vaio (everything) so I'm quite mobile with my work I can travel and work and that important for me

I don't know about you, but am totally against running any bh software on any of my computers at home for more than 2-3 hours, let alone all day long. That doesn't mean I wont test them, but buying computers for the whole fact or running bh software sounds like a really bad idea to me.

I rather buy me a vps/dedi or several of them and run my shit there, and pay the montlhly fee .

I do agree on having several monitors, thats a plus and very useful. But having like 3-4 computers, especially like 2-3 several laptops, mmmm... doesn't appeal me, and all running on my internet connection, doesn't sound like a great idea to do in my books.

I also don't like calling a lot of unnecessary attention, and to me having that many computer running gives me a very uncomfortable feeling if i had anyone just walk into my setup who didn't know me well. As you guys all know, is hard to explain to these people exactly what is that you do , so for me the less obvious and abnormal setups are the better for me. No one will know that you have 2-4 dedi running your bh software if you don't have them running at your house.

Bulldozer sucks at gaming, the architecture is bleh and performance wise it's slightly worse off than the previous generation (Phenom II). At the moment the best value gaming CPU is the i5 2500/k. Anything else and you're doing some serious folding, encoding, editing, zipping or all of the above.
