In principle I agree with you. There are better automated methods for getting guys to sign up to dating sites.
For me I only do automated. Don't pretend to be a girl and talk to them, that's gross.
It's not a great method, not scalable, no chance of automating it, and the leads sent will not convert to paying customers so you'll get banned sooner or later. However, for a lot of people, the method in the original post is a simple, albeit manual, way to bring in some cash to invest in other projects.

This method is pretty much automated. You arent pretending to be horny and ask guys to sign up to some cam site. You are asking them to do a favor in exchange for a pic. And no those leads wont convert but if you mix it in with whitehat traffic than they arent going to ban you.

You could probably fake signups much more professional by using proxies, they probably used their own IP.
Did you actually receive the money or is it on hold ?
I'd really wonder if a CPA company gives you money for 6 signups on one IP, that should call a lot of red flags
