I Have decided!

Are you serious? Facebook started out smaller than 10M I already have 1,000 people willing to sign up once it is done and then they are going to spread the word.

LOL! Yes it started slower, but it grew to what it is today only thanks to venture capitals (many people tried to copy/repalce facebook, though no one was succesful, even google. If you belive you could compete with google+ - good luck, it only shows how dumb of a person you are) Plus notice that facebook has started like 10 years ago. 10 years ago maybe you'd have a shot, though not today. Otherwise it would be just another website.

Seriously mate if you have no idea about what you are doing I woudln't blow 10k. Just give it to the charities.

PS: I've got 500$ starting capital and a great idea for a search engine. I will kill google once and for all. Just need some coders, who's with me?

Americans... :D I really hope that you are trolling otherwise you are the dumb person here. Even more, if you are sitting on 2,5m and want to invest in a social network I can bet that you haven't made this money yourself, unless you won it on a lottery.

After reading the initial post I already knew I had to post here. :P

Of course, it's has been said over and over again that you have to try and that you shouldn't give up but what many of people on this forum are missing is:

1. Skill/knowladge
2. Being realistic about their skills/knowladge
3. Common sense

Good luck with getting ANY profit margin with your social network.

Bart

PS: I understand that you want to spend 10k on the coders right? Otherwise I can't see you competing with facebook with a buggy code written by teenagers.

Yes I did make the money myself. No I am not going to start a flame war. I already have some coders who live nearby. I just need more than what I already have. Who said anything about spending 10k total on coders. They will be getting far more than that trust me. To answer your question I have the skills and the knowledge well about 17 years of it so I know I got that taken care of and second I have commen sense otherwise I would not be pulling out massive amounts of money each week.

So to anyone else who would like to be apart of this team just let me know. But if this starts to become a flaming war then I will just have the thread deleted and take what I have.

Hahahaha i thought your thread said 'how to spend 10k' not 'how to waste 10k'

All the best :) Do give me plenty of free advertising credits on ur social network :)
Well to be honest and serious, Yes everything starts small but its in ur hand how you will take it further... Keep us updated :)

But still I suggest you to use that money in some other venture and multiply the income and then once you have like $100k+ you can think about this just by outsourcing.. u need not compete with facebook.. u may stand separate and strong make a killing online :)

You have to come up with something revolutionary or something where the majority will like/favour. You can't copy the success of facebook, sorry.

I will not be copying facebook at all. But yes I will be giving BHW free advertising once I get the website up and going.

Man if you would have some common sense and knowladge you wouldn't be looking for a coder on BHW. Enough said. You are a troll.

//I won't post in this thread again to stop the spam, but honestly if you DO belive in this guy you are lacking a lot of common sense yourself.

Nonsense.

The best coders would be blackhatters because they will be able to fix all the possible holes.

I have had some bots coded by crackers, so it wont be cracked ever, because crackers know how it is going to be cracked. You get the point bud?

Let me guess you promise to take us to Las vegas if we work for free

Man, I had a nice laugh reading this thread. Anyways, good luck and I'll be sitting back and watching what happens :)

It's not just about finding some coders and throwing money at it. I personally worked on a social network with >$1.5m budget as a Jr developer. And guess what happened? It tanked.

You're going to need specialists for all aspects of the site..
You're going to need a great designer.
You need someone with user interface expertise for wire frames.
You need a damn good front end specialists.
You need a data architect for the backend.
You need someone who knows testing environments like rspec/cucumber like the back of their hand for bug fixes.
You need a project manager.
You need a marketing specialist who's got large-launch experience.

Unless you hit it lucky with some sort of web dev savant, and then get lucky with some genius marketing ploy and push it viral, Your site will most likely be a stagnant, buggy POS (no offense), bleeding your budget dry.

This social network will be huge but I still need some coders.

I don't even want to explain all the flaws in your idea. But I'd be interested to know how you plan on getting a billion people to join your network and quit Facebook for it.

Oh, that, and only with 10k in funds.

I think OP is a graduate from harvard university and hes gonna start his marketing from his college........

"In my opinion this social network would blow Facebook out of the water"

That's right, in your opinion... good luck though!

the bit I don't get is the "I know what to invest $10k in now" when you say you have $2.5m laying about.

So if you have made that money and were clever enough to do so, surely you can see that $10k investment is pretty much going to go nowhere.

Everyone has to start somewhere however you are saying you have made the big $$$$$$$ therefore $10k should be a weekends bar bill and not what you would expect to invest in the next greatest social network

can you see why people are pulling holes in this?

Good luck OP.

And to everyone else that is saying negative things to the OP...this is a joint venture thread.

He obviously posted on here for "joint ventures," not to hear what people have to say about his idea.

Fair comment buddy, but then again if nobody emphasises on the holes in this venture, a number of people might get suckered into it and waste their own time/money.

Just read his About Me: I am a 22 year old millionaire. Been doing internet marketing since 2001.

Started IM at 11 years old o.O

Fair enough, you could say whoever joins this venture and does invest vast amounts of "free work" and it fails deserves it for not realising its a troll post, i'd disagree though.

Edit - Its been an entertaining read though :P
