It locks the webpage from the visitor untill the visitor done a CPA offer (survey or signup). After that they can access the page.
You can make money that way if you let them do offers through your affiliate link.

as long as targeted traffic is coming to your site, you will see conversion and by targeted traffic i don't mean paid junk traffic

I Just Wanted to add a few more pointers about the method:
- if you are tight on cash for mailing, then after they sign up just redirect them to your aff link but if you are able to email your list time your approach cause you will see a big increase in conversions.
- also when the game is released maybe 1 - 2 days after, i head over to the pirate bay and i usually find the torrent of the game then i make a simple WP page with a download button linking to the torrent on pirate bay and lock it with a content locker.
after all this i then email my list something like this
"Download HALO 4 For Free At www.yoursite.com"
- i am going to share one of my best traffic methods for this method
youtube comment rating, i write a relevant comment with a link to my site for a youtube video relating to my game (HALO 4) and then i just buy 50 comments/$5 from fiverr, it works like a charm and i get targetted traffic almost instantly
- also one more pointer try to use games that will likely have a sequel, i choose halo 4 cause its more than likely to have a sequel so then i can email my list again about a "BETA CODE" for HALO 5

I done a similar setup at the start of sept using battlefield 3 beta - Was making around $60 a day getting traffic from an unusual source... *****!
I used this splash page, along with Content Lock Pro and JotForm, I would create a thread using this picture - and say BF3 invites - get them fast, and even post a few fake ones
My website was just a simple html document (hidden whois) using a spliced screenshot i managed to grab from the REAL alpha invite website before it was taken down.
When they clicked "click here to access your beta" the text would be replaced by an iframed jotform. After 2 seconds a content locker would pop up FULL of BF3 offers, MW3 offers, Starcraft offers - anything gaming related!
Once they done an offer they would enter there details into my iframed jotform and i would get en email with there name,age,location and email address for future marketing.
This worked amazing for a month straight then on my second payment someone got pissed and said in my thread "good luck getting your payment op - ive reported your aff link" sure enough a few days later i was suspended! I cant blame them for reporting me, this is a scummy blackhat method
in the end i made around $800+

- I have never used Aweber but im sure it would be way better. you have to create a new jotform form every 100 sign ups, it takes 2 minutes and it can send out emails or just collect emails and pass them onto you.
I took a screenshot of the official battlefield alpha site and just edited parts in photoshop to say beta etc. I used notepad++ for the rest
