I would just drop the htaccess with the proper code in the site 1 folder?
One last question. If I have site a ranking for keyword a and site b ranking for keyword b and redirect both to site c. will site c rank for both keyword a and keyword b?
So what about buying a relevant and high PR expiring domain from godaddy's auction and doing a 301 from it to an existing domain/site. Will an expired or expiring domain pass on all or most of the pr to your existing domain, or does it just pass on link juice or nothing at all?
If you explicitly create the same URLs so you can have a page on your target site for every link that the old site had, I would imagine that could help your effort.
I disagree with your point that any gain would be temporary, but certainly any gain would be proprtional to the previous domains ranking and therefore unleess you were picking up loads of aged bargains with loads of links it wouldn't make a lot of difference in the grand scheme of things.
Perhaps you're postulating that ANY link gives you at least a little juice, even if it's irrelevant. I would buy that, but would only add that I wouldn't go out of my way or spend much money to get a bunch of links that are not related to my site's niche, since they may not be any better than a blast of comment spam. Yeah? If not, please explain.
