You can not write ssl certificate. FB require your apps and iframed sites that hosted outside to be served from ssl enabled server. They probably want to reduse spammy lenders from cheap hosts. Here is small how-to..
1. get yourself host account with dedicated IP or better linux dedicated server
2. ask your host to generate Certificate Signing Request or do it yourself use openssl (don't know how to do it on windows)
3. get cheap ssl certificate (like rapidSSL) 9.90 per year or something just domain verification, google it.
4. send them your CSR
5. wait like 10 minutes
6. find your cert in your inbox attached
7. install it according to your server (Apache uses mod_ssl)
8. test it
9. Done!
Now use your H T TP S // usr as secure canvas URL

When you're working with dozens of domains, good luck with that.
Starting October 1, 2011 Facebook will require a valid SSL Certificate for all pages and applications hosted outside of Facebook.

I think programs like "Static iframe" will be fine because they all work off the same domain, just different directories. Your best bet when getting clients to switch over is to just have your domain with the SSL, and then for each new client just make a new directory for them that everything is hosted on (but don't let them know it's so easy). This will only work if you have their files or access to them.
I also do this in case the client doesn't pay the monthly fee, I can take down their fanpage or have it redirect to my marketing site.

I am still a little confused as to what will happen with some wordpress sites though?
I always get my super-cheap rapidssl certs from some hard-to-find page on HostGator. I have to Google for it every time - I've yet to see a link to it from the main HG site.
I'm not into facebook, but I do have two merchant sites that need SSLing and I look for the cheapest non-chained cert that'll do the job. So far the one I mentioned has been the only one I've found that isn't a "chained" variety and that seems to come from a legit place.
In a purely technical sense, you actually CAN have your own server generate one (at least you can with cPanel), but if you do, it'll throw all sorts of security warnings since there's no way to verify it with an outside company. You wouldn't sell/convert anything with that going on. (Those are called "self-signed" certificates btw.)
My only question is how would I set up a service to make these things on the back end? Like take all these companies that charge $50 or $500 or $5, for example. What tools/connections/friends do you have to have in order to authoritatively be an SSL provider? Is it like ICANN? Because if it would end up being free once registered, I think BHW (and the internet in general) could benefit from a free provider.
