Kindle Ebook Publishing Success?

My friend and I have one book that's doing upwards of $500 a month, sometimes more, sometimes less. We just released our second with plans for many more down the road. We sell our books for $9.99. Never more, never less.

You must become an expert in a niche. Learn it inside and out. Write your own material and come at your niche from a completely unique angle. It takes alot of work.

Keyword research is vital and so is LSI.

Have websites to back it up and use all the skills you have to get this stuff indexed high. We are #1 on Google and #1 on Amazon for this niche. Drive sales to your book from every source you can find. As your sales increase, you will rank higher on Amazon.

I have also done some PLR nonsense books, just to see how it works. They didn't sell for crap and were eventually taken down as being too similar to other titles.

Do your homework and due diligence and it will pay off. Just keep pushing. There is so much to learn.

Remember you only sell books based on the cover (shiny sells!) and the description. And to some extent, the reviews. Get friends and family to put some good reviews up for you. We had someone in England post a bad review and sales increased! LOL!

We use blogger blogs and nuke/scrapebox the hell out of them driving up our other main blogs from within them. Google doesn't like to slap itself, so they have been rock solid for us.

Ping everything! Often! I don?t care what people might say about pinging. We see increases by doing this.

Get an Amazon associates account and be sure to always us the affiliate link for your book as the link on your sites/bloggers. You will pick up residual cash if people don't buy your book, but still make some other purchase.

Don't forget to put your books on Barnes and Noble's Nook also. We pick up around $50 - $125 per month from there. Sometimes nothing there though. Nook seems very rollercoaster-ish. But, it's still extra sales and that's all that counts.

Also, offer your eBook on your websites and blogs as a PDF download, you will pick up occasional sales this way too.

Put links in your book to products and affiliate sources. Just sneak them in here and there and don't forget to cross promote your other products/eBooks.

Our first book has been selling for over a year now and sales are ever increasing.

IF yo uare not in US and do not have US bank account you have no chance to get it in Nook.

IF you want Smashwords or make an Iphone version very expensive, yes it goes in but I really am disappointed in Smashwords and I was even told I had to take my best ebook/shiny website off Amashwords as othe ebooks were er ysimilar and I actually have the better one I think

I totally get you on the keyword research. I'm in a very competitive niche, but a niche that has some really high selling books.....so we'll see how things pan out. Congrats on the success of you ONE book...you really sent that ball out the park on the 1st try.

How long after the book was uploaded did you start seeing sales? It would be nice if we had the ability to see search and browse stats on our uploaded books...instead of just sales data.

First month 5 copies lol! Then significant increases after that. It takes patience and time. We thought we failed for the first 4 - 5 months as increases were slow, then it took off and has been on the rise ever since.

I'm hearing you about stats. It really blows that we are basically blind on Amazon.

Does he build sites behind each book? Does he drive those websites? Does he create youtube videos? He could have a fortune sitting in his lap, but it's not going to happen on Amazon alone. You need to give these things back bone! I'd love to work with him promoting : ) It's the part I like best.

Sounds like an interesting story you have there! Well, it's really all about the fancy cover, great description and building up the pyramid behind it. The only way to know is to research the 'I used to be a pimp' niche. Could have a best seller there. Can you write? With color?

If [and it's an 'ify' if] Amazon rates mostly by sales, then yes, but remember they get their cut on every sale, so you will pay for it. You would have to have a blazing hot niche in order to justify the expense. We have a pretty good selling book and we are NOT getting rich off it. Yet.

theguru68 has some really excellent tips-- especially about the cover! If you have a crappy cover you're going to sell way less books. You can get some nice covers made for surprisingly cheap, depending on what you want. I know there's a few self-pub cover artists out there available for hire (I can get some links if people need/want them).

Hmm, I guess the reason I say this is I'm trying to figure out how "Ty Cohen" is claiming to make over 20k a month with Amazon Kindle.......I've checked out his course (very over priced for the material that's in it) and he claims he's basically heavily rewriting PLR content, posting it to Amazon, having people tag keywords related to the book, and having reviews written. So i'm wondering if you can go 1 more step further and buy alot of your own books.

Of course it's worth it! It's free to sign up and only takes minutes to get the book up. Never overlook opportunity! Nook has surprised us many times. Is it as strong as Kindle, no, but it's yet another income stream. Do it!

My concern though is this: Most people who read books in this niche are people who are looking for secrets or clues on how to learn 'the game', that is how to be a pimp or escort without getting caught. I know this because I was one of them. So I guess this could be something, but I have to write it in such a way as to not to further incriminate myself.

Speaking of pyramid, it does have a pyramid behind it - the one with the eye on top... Yes, near the end of my time in the game, I disovered the illuminati and new world order plan. What a twist.... irate:

Then to top it off, i'm a white guy, which is rare in that niche. Fuggit - its going down!

Ty may or may not be making that kind of cash, but that method is actually much more work than you think. It's actually easier to research and write your own. Even spin some content if you have to, but so far for me, that doesn't work at all. And now you can put all that work into a re-written PLR book only to have Amazon remove it. But, then again, they could do that to a book you have totally written on your own and remove that too as someone mentioned earlier.

Tagging keywords/reviews are good to have for sure.

Yes, that pyramid is far more real than the mundanes of the world would like to see. The 'Great Experiment' is ending. But, I will go down fighting : )
