just fyi guys

twilio.com have gone live with their sms shortcode service - looks like their pricing is $500 more than a regular short code per month but the sms messages are 1c outbound and 0.5c inbound with zero contracts which is not a bad deal really

you will need your own platform to deliver the messages but their API is awesome!

if its any use i have helped setup an sms shortcode with 4info too they where very helpful during the provision phase of the shortcode although their API was different from a lot of the other gateways

Have you ever tried sending marketing SMS's to scraped data via twilio.com? As far as i understand if you send an information msg you can do it without any problems. So say we send a msg like " you can do this with this" and only talk of a brand not include a link would there be a problem?

have only been supplying twilio as an up sell service to business's - but did think when i was using the twilio api that they are kinda leaving themselves open to that type of stuff

bottom line if numbers aren't "opt-in" just like email addresses you run the risk of it being considered spam - whether someone actually takes you to court over it or not i don't know but there are laws set up to prevent spam and the penalties can be pretty harsh - it's your choice what you do but be aware of the consequences!

you could make a killing scraping and spamming - but you can also making an honest killing too up selling to business!

right now you got every opportunity to be the next go to guy for mobile marketing in your area - take advantage of it while its still new and competition is low!

Then there is the short code (white hat) method, which is very expensive and time consuming to get up and running. I have seen twilio being thrown around the forum as the source for sms, when in reality they are a tier 2 or 3 aggragate, which is like a alltel cell phone company compared to ATT. similar, but in the end you are piggy backing off of att...wouldnt you rather go direct to thte source. for whitehat shortcode, i suggest openmarket, which is a tier 1 aggragate and after all my research...they were the best. I dont have anything to do with them other than they are the company i work with for my short code...

To let you know it costs roughly $5k to get your white label sms up and running. then $1500 a month in shortcode fees and roughly 2.5 cents per message. the good thing is you can put out millions a day if you wanted to...the bad thing is that you are easily tracebale. so in case one of your name complains you are found via your short code. Where with the modems it is a bit tougher to locate you.

So these modem pools i keep speaking of are how you should, if you want to make money quick and easy via sms, be sending out from. what you need: desktop computer, modempool, internet connection and sim cards. I sell the modem pools and would strongly recommend buying them from me, but if you want to chance buying from another company you can find them at alibaba.com. i have ten 8 port, ten 16 port, three 32 port and 1 64 port for international sending available. cost of these is going to be between$700 on up to $2500. Each port can typically send out 1000 messages an hour, so long as you arent using the same ip over and over. i have in one day messaged over 600k with 48 modems going for 16 hours.

data...the tough part is getting data that has been collected properly, which fortunately we have through managing as well as collecting the cells via our own sites. Would be up for anyone that is interested in buying some of it. we recieve daily feeds ...real time ....that ranges from 100-200k a day.

how much do i make a day? it depends on what i am sending out to and time of day to be honest. sometimes i can make over $1000 other times maybe 80 or 90...average around $450

I use long code a lot for white hat campaigns since I like using the voice features you know of anyone that has less restrictive output that doesn't throttle the sending of SMS ie 1/sec can't figure out if it's the technology they are using or if that's what they are imposing

You should make a BST I think you would make some good money with what you have to offer!

What platforms do you recommend for sending we had one custom made that ran on a joomla installation but wasn't without it's problems!

good information. so with a modem pool, a computer, and internet connection (is dsl preferred for rotating ips?) and sim cards? where do sim cards come into play? basically you are able to text 100s of thousands of people. are you trying to generate general nation traffic to a site that makes money? can the numbers be narrowed down to a city?

i am actually running into that right now...the ips i am using are getting "targeted" by my isp and my cards are being shut down sooner than usual. Is that the best way to get around only having one isp per line...too get DSL line?

the are a number of databases out there that have the npx nxx info along with carrier. i use a database called phone gold. it is good if you have a tech and dont know the techincal side.

I am currently building SMS lists in a number if ways. I am interested in bulk list building.

Here's one idea for you. Build a mobile website. Take a high converting CPA offer. Build a one field submit form that has the creative banner for the offer. Collect their mobile number and then redirect them to the CPA offer they were interested in. It will cost you some money using Admob but you can drive a rediculous amount of targeted traffic for cheap. This way you build a niche list, regardless of whether or not the offer converts. If it does convert, you pick up the commission on it as well.

The last campaign I ran for singles text dating landed me about 1,200 mobile subscribers. My cpc was around .10
