So I am looking at this new offer on buying backlinks and I'm thinking - well it's interesting and used to work but why do it if Google will penalize me?

Are you still buying links, or taking any special precautions?

How can G penalise backlinks? It just won't happen, what has happened is that less credit has been extended to certain types of spammy backlinks.

As far as I know, you won't be penalized for backlinks at all and I think this is the way it should be. The second Google decides to start penalizing sites for any particular off-site links, people will start doing exactly that to their competitors. If that ever became widespread it would be a shitshorm for Google. So it makes sense that they simply devalue links that they find as spammy.

I know some people might disagree with me, but just from a logical perspective it really wouldn't make sense to penalize a site for something that may or may not be under their control.

What you need to avoid in doing or buying a link building campaign is leaving footprints. Certainly big G has a way of tracking your own footprints in building backlinks for your site.

This is just base on my experience BTW.

I think that IMO it all comes down to the same thought, if we could get penalized for backlinks then we could just backlink our competitors and penalise them, but yeah it's just not logical.

i think the change is mostly QUALITY over QUANTITY and honestly that's fine with me.

As longs as you dont have footprints like: Doing links for all your sites on the same analitics account, adwords account etc you are fine.

Build two sites on one of your keywords and try two different linking programs and in 30 to 90 days you should know.

Don't forget that links also bring traffic. Even if it takes 1k links to get 1 visitor if they perform the action you want it is worth it.

I agree, Big G will not penalize you for buying backlinks. If this was the case i would go buy a campaign for all my competition, and take them out.

I think the update was more for qaulity backlinks, which means higher PR links, and certian sites which you normally cant get backlinks from.

Right, so how come I see a bunch of sites dropping who have used article sites that got slapped?

And sites that profile spam getting destroyed in the indexes.

I could go on.

Why does this mean links are to blame, have you seen any of these sites yourself.Maybe they are loaded with adsense, cpa offers etc.
Fact I have used AMR and scrapebox and have only seen upward movement on ALL sites in fact I blasted a site directly with 200k scrapebox links and AMR ,on the first page because of it,I have a 6 month old pr0 site,I am agaist pr3+ sites.FACT link FROM articles are untouched, yes comment links are slightly down but it still helps.Another fact is using commonsense, the reason I can blast directly is I've used scrapebox to harvest pr5 URL links,I post manually btw on these. So if I fire 200k links of which maybe 300 will actually show it's not touching my site in a negative way.
Another fact I blasted 200k links at a clown who didn't pay me,with very vulgar keywords and the the word spam, his site went upward for HIS keyword!
It's what is on the site that counts as well.If it is a landing page or has any cpa offers etc there is a good chance thats seen negatively and by attracting google to it by mass linking your simply highlighting this.Ask people whose sites have dropped if they do adsense or cpa's on the home page then come back and tell me they don't work.Seriously this question is being asked everyday here, the answer is the same backlinks won't kill your serps, the content on your site will.
My own view is the update had more than met the eye,I believe the algo regarding onpage content got changed as well but was not announced.I would like to hear from ANYONE who has no adsense, cpa, clickbank reviews ,autoblogs etc who got damaged by this update and has half decent real content on their site.
Buy the links for crying out loud unless your site is under 6 months old.

The 'farmer' update devalued 'Content Farms' such as article sites, this in turn means less 'link juice' from the links on these sites. Before the update G's algorithm probably loved those kind sites because they were full of unique content. After the update these sites dropped in ranking and links from them dropped in 'quality'.

As said before it's down to footprints, which is a by product of automating. Every tool that is used for automating leaves some sort of footprint. G knows what tools BH'ers use and as such they know their default footprints.

To be honest, I think the only reason that many people use forum profiles as a way to build links is because they can. It doesn't really make sense from a 'human' perspective. I highly doubt that one person is capable of reading and interacting on over 10k forums, and I doubt many people link to sites in their forum profile without having some kind of personal connection to the site.

I can't speak from experience, but from what I've read, if your going to build backlinks using automated tools then you've got to get to know how the tool really works and you must change the default settings. if your going to do multiple blasts then change settings (A change in footprint).

Someone on this forum runs a 'linkpushing' service. To me this right now seems to be the best way to build links. Somewhere on their site is the question "Will your backlinks hurt my SERP?" and the answer given is along the lines of "Search engines cannot detect our linkbuilding system because it is based on random chaos".To me THIS seems the way to build links to have a positive effect on your SERP.

Note: I'm not associated with the linkpushing service, and nor have I even used it. When I refer to THIS, I mean random chaos. Ok well not random chaos exactly, but don't JUST stick to forum profiles or blog comments, get your links everywhere and anywhere you can.

Everyone is buying and will buy links, no matter how many Google updates will be.

Every backlink is a road leading into your site. You would be a ghost town with little or no roads coming into your town.

I'd love to see your proof that links FROM article sites have been de-valued.The sites THEMSELVES got hit not the links from them.I use AMR and see only fast upward movement within 24 hours. You ASSUME the links got devalued.I've tested this, have you?

As you buy links, make sure you add more content. That makes the search engines index more pages and they discover more of your backlinks.

Yeah man. Totally true. Nothing got devalued. AMR blasts just
push everything up in no time. I am kinda glad this rumor spread
out. More link juice for us, who TEST things out rather than
believe all the B.S.

Okay I used to ask this question back in time when I was pretty new to the SEO world.

But yeah it all comes down to the logic of it.

If we can get penalized for building backlinks, we could literally do it to all of our competitors and get them off page 1. But of course this would make a mess on the search results, and therefore no, you will never get penalised for building backlinks.

If you do seo for some time, you will understand this naturally with your sites.

I'd like to know when the last time was you were able to achieve this feat? I've done this before too but only BEFORE the google update. Ever since the update I haven't been able to rank with AMR.
