Google does see both variations as two different domains until you do a 301 and tell google which one you prefer.

But it will suck up some "power" from the links ;)

Lol! I thought I was sooo right... but seems like I was wrong. Thanks for the links. I still doubted it until I saw the w3c link checking tool output...

Now if I understand that right one has to find out how the server is set up, and which version will be redirected and stick to the other one, right?

The 301 from non www to www or vice versa does suck up link power, right, but you should do it anyways in case someone links to the version you do not do link building to. Of course one should stick to the non redirected url when doing link building, but you can't tell people how they link to you... and if you don't, you could get duplicate content problems as well.

The way I learned it is that www . domain.com and domain.com are not the same - so redirect one to the other and set the preferred domain in GWT. I would probably go with domain.com because it is shorter, and redirect the other domain to it. Google does see both variations as two different domains until you do a 301 and tell google which one you prefer.

But domain.com and domain.com/ are the same, as far as I know. If you check GWT, there is an option to tell google that with and without www are the same domain, and what domain google should use, but there is no distinction between with and without / so I am pretty sure it makes no difference. From an IT view it does not make any sense too, since the www. technically is a subdomain, but with or without /, its still the same domain, and still the root of the domain.

EDIT: redirect domain.com to www . domain.com, and set www . domain.com as your preferred url in GWT, since www . domain.com is the one with more bl to it.

Well at the end of the day, it can't hurt to just add the slash at the end. Although it is such a small detail, it could be brutal to have missed it. I have changed all my URLS to ensure I am promoting

Back to square one... lol Hopefully this time I get better results... kinda stinks how I spent so much time promoting the wrong domain. Makes me wonder why my website jumped so high so quickly. Was it the domain strength or was it the 8 backlinks (which are all from SA - which have a multi tiered backlinks to that...) Who knows.. lol

Back to work...

If you have any information on this, i'd really be glad to hear it. From this logic, to me it seems that my DOMAIN strength is getting stronger, but not the actualy "page" even though it is still the domain, i'm thinking that google sees "www" vs no "www" as a different page.

What do you think?

I told you in my previous my post :) . YSE calculates backlinks separately for with and without www

Lol yeah I know, but when I did that check I didn't realize what my DOMAIN was ranking for so I never thought it was strange lol My bad

I discovered all this recently and find it absurd that the SEs don't have their algo treat alll the same. Are you all setting the 301s to be read from in the html pages with rel tag ?

Thanks for the journal. Very insightful indeed. I am curious how was your experiment with private and public proxies. Does it make so much difference with SB?

I know crazy hey? Lol it can be a vital mistake just like what I did here. Im just glad I caught it before i kept going and going... Who knows what rank i'd be at right now if i were promoting the right URL. You can do 301s through a .htaccess (google it there are tons and tons of information on this). But, in my case im using wordpress and i just checked the defaulting domain that it goes to. I read somewhere that the defaulting domain already does a 301 redirect.

public proxies work great with pretty much anything and all of scrapebox. The only bad part of public proxies is that you may need to recomment on your failed list a couple times in order to achieve the best results. As for private - its usually a one time comment process. I use private for checking indexing as well since public proxies make me check several times until I get a good answer. I use private proxies for alot of other stuff so thats why I have them. But I didn't buy them specifically for SB. I'd be just as happy using public proxies with SB. Try to find other proxy resources though.. the ones that are internally there are used and banned very quickly since probably 95% of all SB users are using those. lol

Current Rank: 16
YSE: 9 (7 are from my SA)

Will update more when i have time.

Now I have to check how the sites I work on are redirected. Usefull thread this :)
Keep it going like this.
BTW I hope you hit top 5 next week!

Top 5 might be a little tough. All those SA links can't be adjusted as the project is already submitted. So I have to create new SA ones pointing to the correct domain URL so it might take me a bit longer.

Current Ranking
  • Main Keyword: 16
  • YSE: 9 - This still hasn't changed...

Week
  • AMR - My Trial ended but the program is still open therefore I can still use it. I'm taking advantage of this and so i'm registering to the rest of the AMR websites and i'll submit them - 20 per day.
  • SS - Been blasting profiles here and there from many different engines...Profiles take a long time to index so i'm going back to BE (backlink engergizer)
  • BE - I kind of forgot about this and I'm not having much success with it. I talked to a buddy of mine and he was telling me his links are getting indexed pretty decently with BE, so I am now working on scaling this up. I now have 20 different BE setup and I'll commit an hour or so to create accounts. I made a script in SS to create accounts for me, but I have to enter in new details + captcha. This will certainly speed things up.
  • BL - Building links to T1/T2 for now (these are pointing to the wrong DOMIAN URL, but I don't want it to not be building anything so I just have it building links to there)
  • SA - I am currently working on setting up 5 campaigns with 12 articles each (spun - not unique articles - mashups). I will schedule 4 of them to complete in a week...and seperate each one by 2-4 days. I'll have the last SA one to build immediately. I am working on this now and should be done in the next hour or so.
  • Organization - I've been putting everything into a notepad, but I'm finding that its getting harder and harder to find the links I want to find. So i've come up with a better way to organize this thats easier for me. I created a php script which I host on a domain of mine with a bunch of text boxes and submit buttons. Bascially, right after I finish my links, I paste htem into the textbox and hit submit. This will then add all the links to a .txt file that is located on the server. Each "type" of link is split up and is shown pretty nicely in the web browser. This was probably the best way for me to organize my stuff. It's making my life alot easier. Kind of like my own link dashboard lol. I'll probably add more stats and stuff for myself so I can see what links are pointing to what etc etc by having it count how many lines are in the text file etc etc.

Current Ranking
  • Main Keyword: 15
  • YSE: 14

Week
  • AMR - Bought it. Created a new campaign - new article.. pointing to my main domain. Scheduled 20 submissions every day. I then signed up for about 1,000 (successful signups + confirms) that had a health of 80+. I don't really want to bother with a health less then this. Will use them later eventually, but as of right now, I want working links
  • SA - Created those 5 campaigns a couple days ago and the 1 campaign that was scheduled to complete is just about done.
  • Link Dashboard (LD) - I spent all day today and coded myself a Link thing.. lol I was not very happy with my php thing...even though it worked.. it was a paid copying and pasting it to a bunch of places - and at some points wasnt very fast enough for me when I wanted to check the links through my dedicated. Anywho... this is what it looks like... nothing too crazy.. just pastes my links in there and added many shortcuts that i use on a daily basis when using all the types of software. I've organized each tab to suit the types of links I build and I built in a very simple campaign feature. Everything is saved in text files and folders (campaigns). If people are interested, im wiling to release it for free. But, if no one really cares for it then whatever lol

    79929914.jpg

  • BL - Bulding old Tiers... will update this soon to make sure it hits the newer T2s
  • BE - Havent built the accounts yet...will probably build them tomorrow
  • SS - As soon as I have my new set of T2s.. i'll be blasting them with profiles after profiles.. and then track them in LD and push them through indexing and crawling
  • Linklicious - Submitted a couple older Tiers there to get crawled
  • SB - Will use a autoapprove list on the new T2s as soon as their done
  • BH Mem - Picked up a BH membership which has a couple cracked tools that I'll be trying out (if they work that is..).

Hi Siek

I come back to this thread everyday to check on your progress. I think I can
speak for many when I say that you documenting your progress is a great
inspiration and motivation.

I am very interested in a release of your simple but very useful link software.

Thanks & keep up the good work.

15th ... i dont know how long it will take to reach first.

Thanks. Yeah sure i'll release it. I just gotta make sure that theres no bugs.

Awesome progress, i hope you reach your goal

Thanks

Yeah... It seems to be stuck at 15... But, I kind of expected this since i was promoting the wrong DOMAIN URL. If i were doing it right from the get go.. im pretty sure I would have already been on the first page. The one thing Im noticing now is that ranking is moving alot again. Before it was stuck at 15 and stayed there everytime i checked the rankings. But now it keeps jumping between 15 - 20. Usually when it jumps like that, it moves up the SERPS so... im thinking it'll start moving a bit.

Siek, Amazing thread! Thank you so much for posting all the details about how you went about improving your SERPs, look forward to reading more, and seeing you at #1, monetizing your traffic!

Link Dashboard

  • URL IMPORT - Use this to paste all your links into the textarea. From there click the URL IMPORT button in the toolbar and select where the links should be transferred to. This is more of a time saver then anything. The links will be added to the appropriate category - added to the top of the list.
  • Dashboard - Contains URL, Keywords, SpunTitles - These variables I use on a dailiy basis and always have to grab them when im working with my programs. The "C" beside them is a copy to clipboard button. The Stats is not 100% accurate, but its fairly close give or take 1 or 2 (this is because the program thinks a blank line is an entry.
  • TOOLBAR - "COPY" - THis is a copy to clipboard button. While browsing through your tabs...for instance i clicked on Web 2.0 and went to Tier 1. When viewing this tab, if i click COPY.. then it'll copy all the links in the textarea I am currently looking at. This is pretty useful for me esp with all my links. I suauly grab all the tier 2 links and then I run it through seveeral didnt programs etc.
  • TOOLBAR - RSS = COPY + Mark as Complete - This was made specifically for me.... As a routine, I grab my RSS feeds (about 20 of htem) and I copy and put them through the RSSSubmit software. So... in the program I would SELECT 20 URLS and press this button. This will then copy the 20 URLS to clipboard....delete them from this list and add them to the RSS COMPLETED tab. This way I'll know which feeds i've submitted and which one I haven't. This works only for the Tier 2 RSS feeds and the Article Feeds (since these are the ones that will have 100's of RSS feeds.
  • TOOLBAR - CLEAR ALL - Be careful when pressing this... this will clear all fields and there is NO turning back (unless you saved your links).
  • TOOLBAR - FILE > SAVE SESSION - A session is an instance of your application. When you save a session it will save all the CURRENT textarea information thats currently there... if you close the application and reopen it, it'll load up you're last save session. This helps when you are working on 1 specific campaign and you don't really want to load up the campaign everytime.
  • TOOLBAR - FILE > SAVE CAMPAIGN - Everythign is done through folders/text files. You'll have to create a new folder and save this in this folder. In the folder, it'll create several text files saving each filed to each one. If you have multiple campaigns, make sure you don't override a campaign over another. It's pretty self explanatory how it works
  • TOOLBAR - FILE > LOAD CAMPAIGN - Basically, it'll load your campaigns you've saved (folder)

This is a really simple tool and don't expect anything huge to come out from this. Its just a really easy way to organize your links. If you can think of something cool you'd want to see in it, let me know. It might be useful for me too.. I was thinking of having a random button which copies a ## of random links... etc etc.

If you have any questions let me know.

Thanks
