Dropshipping Books on EBAY

I got this e-mail response from bookdepository:

"... Unfortunately, we are unable to estimate when deliveries will be to our usually delivery period. I can confirm we usually allow a maximum of 7-14 working days for US deliveries. However due to the increased security measures implemented by the US Postal services in response to the increased terrorist threat deliveries have been delayed. Sadly this isn't something we can influence, and we are therefore asking that customers allow up to 28 days from the date of shipment for delivery..."

Try books relating to Music or films. Especially current films and movies they seem to do the trick :D

I have found a bunch of items that seem to work from a profit perspective but this quote below is exactly what I am seeing...

The delivery time can be anywhere from 5-28 days which will not sit well with your buyers. If you do not care about your DSR (detailed seller ratings) this might be ok. Meaning you just want to generate some cash and do not care longer-term.

Also, I looked on Amazon based on some of the discussion higher up in this thread and interestingly found the Book Depository themselves selling on a bunch of books, which would mean the Amazon idea is basically out. Especially since the feedback for the Book Depository is ok, but not great, delivery time complaints and occasional out of stock or delay issues.

Looks like a decent ebay "business" but a few big things to keep in mind:
1) delivery times are going to be long and completely out of your hands
2) as mentioned above, items will show as coming from BD, your customers will know, so your repeat business will be low and likely be close to zero
3) your entire business is structured on 2 other companies who can change their rules and pricing on you in any given moment and can topple your "business" in that moment

But definitely a good idea and if someone wants some decent cash, not a bad way to get some (with very little work as well).
 
Are there any other Websites which offer real Dropshipping from the UK for books? The prices there seem to be very low.
 
Been doing this for a month using the Amazon Prime free trial. Stuff that sells well you will find there are 10+ others doing exactly the same thing and you will eventually get into a price war. The winner is usually someone with the highest level of ebay shop who pays alot less on their ebay fees.

Just before my prime trial was up I received a threat from amazon stating I was violating the prime t&c's for reselling and if I continue I will be banned from prime and may have to pay for suspected potage (ouch). If anyone knows how to get around this im all ears because I know its possible, there are a fair few big players doing this with 100+ sales a day and using prime.
 
I remember when I used to go to the library and they were throwing out boxes of books that were in great condition! I was talking to this cat that said they throw away books every single day because they get too many donated! I took a box of hard cover books and sold some at my yard sale. Only a few had library stamps in them, but the majority did not. What do you guys think on this?
 
Dropshipping on Book depository is illegal. Their terms and conditions states the following:

  1. This Site is for personal and non-commercial use. You may not use the site to place orders which will be, or are being, sold on to a third party. If you are suspected of using the site in this way then we reserve the right to withdraw from the contract and cancel your orders.
Book depository have sophisticated systems to catch people drop shipping. They have their spies on ebay. They are really serious about stamping out the dropshippers because it ruins their goodwill. Eventually they will find you and cancel your orders and bar you from the site. This has happened to a few dropshippers that i know.
 
I've sold a few articles in the UK for testing purposes and bookdepository couldn't meet the own "usually dispatched in 72 hours" standard even a single time. A week is more realistic. Looks like they keep their prices so low by being a sweat shop with chronic staff shortage. I mean, it's not Christmas season or something like that, the peak times are months away. And yet they have a backlog of a week. Something like this doesn't happen overnight.
And the ebay customer blames me for it. I don't like that. I'd prefer a more reliable supplier. I mean, cheap is fine, yes, but everybody can sell cheap, even a trained monkey could win a price war if he crippled his margins far enough. It's not worth such a drop in service quality. Not to me and not to the customer who is used to 24h delivery times.
 
I will try... after got VeRo from ebay. Maybe i will sell book or other than electronic from china.

Even if book depositories doesn't work, the point isn't a cut and paste method. Think of it as a concept and spin it on your own to make money. Creativity is the most valuable tool in internet marketing, you know.
 
hi guys am a newbie here

just came accross this post about dropshipping books with ebay , it sounds very good and was wondering if anyone was doing it , want to know if i can go ahead and do it, is it allowed to do , , can i be in trouble for doing that
