I got a neg from a smarty once, and he then immediately commented right after it (without, of course, any negative comments about my post). He was the only Jr. Vip commenting on that thread. The time (a small lag) between the neg rep and the comment matched. So I knew the person.

But this is not possible every time and the offender gets away knowing (s)he is almost invulnerable...


So let the mods get an alert every time a neg rep is given and it will take less than 5 minutes for a moderator to read and check whether the neg rep is/was valid... if not, let the mods give him 20 neg reps for the first offense and declare the offender's name, may be on a special non-stop/Sticky thread on the shit list, and then 50 neg reps thereafter once or twice, and then a permanent ban. Within a week or less, this whole madness will stop. The offender has paid a tidy sum to become a VIP, and it would take only 1 stupid-minute of his valuable time to be on the shit list permanently, with just one more chance to either continue existing as a live-member or a loser dead (perm. banned) ex-member...

The offender may happen to be a VIP, but all other members too are valuable people of BHW.So no more foul-plays and misuses of privileges on this great forum.

To be completely honest with you, folks, I found out about that person's money-making websites within the next 10 minutes, and thought of easily and completely destroying his false-pride and whatever peace he had within less than a day... it took an hour's struggle inside me to not do it though.

I dont think that it will be such a good idea to reveal who neg or +rep you because you will try and give back the ''favor'' twice .
So in case of neg rep you will be seeking revenge and in case of a +rep you will be trying to be sweet and in both cases the rep system will not be consistent.
However , receiving neg rep without knowing who or why in most cases is frustrating ( I have been a victim myself ) .
I know that Mods and admins here have a lot of work to do ,and they are doing an awesome job by the way, but I think a mod dedicated to only approve reps either negative or postive will be awesome . I know It is a lot of work but it is doable .
Or maybe as others said in here we make the giving rep system a privelege for Old memebers with a fixed number fo posts.

I had an experience with this this morning. I paid billyd $25 a couple months ago to scrape a facebook page. He failed to provide the work I paid for and does not return pm's or emails. I gave him a neg rep and he turns around and gives me one back. I agree the system needs to change.

A suggestion would be that when you neg rep someone you get -1 rep as well, This way are are paying for your opinion from your own pocket and will only do it for valid reasons.

Although rep means pretty much nothing unless you have scored quite low, i would totally vouch for :

1. Be able to leave -rep after 1 year or so of membersip
2. Have your nickname appear everytime

* They dont find a problem letting who was him!
* They can Possibly get one back xD

That's actually a very good idea, people would then take the reputation system seriously and not neg rep random people for random stuff.

anyway, if you really want a high rep, then focusing on preventing other people from -repping you is really the wrong way to approach it.

the right way to get an awesome rep here is to contribute tons of great content to this forum and get so many +reps that the few -reps you inevitably get don't even matter.
