What is the most important on site?

I have the list of MUST DO:

Keyword in title
keyword in description
H1 tags (h2/h3 ?)
Meta ( necessary?)
Keyword density (3%?)

Add to the list, comment the list or fix the list please.

Thanks

the biggest one your missing

*Keyword in domain

Keyword Density? WTF is this?

*As long as its all relevant content, like your domain name and all the titles are relevant and the content matches up with everything (according to google) your good.

*= what should be added to list

Yes thats right. Did not include it as was talking about what you can do on site. Kw domain is obviously very important.
So what do you think about my list? Something to add? Something (h2 or meta for example) not that important?

there is a plugin for WP that handles onsite seo from a general standpoint.

With very minor tweaking you can make it the best onsite seo.

Ill say the WP admin includes meta. so they should be important........

Although ive heard different things from different people.

Me Personally, It cant hurt and its so easy to do so just take the extra time. It could mean the difference of you being one, two steps better than your competition

And thus outranking them and they missed a very simple, yet turned out to be, very crucial step

The biggest one is for me is title, domain name isnt that important imo! But like someone said on this forum if you are bothered about the keyword in domain create a seperate page for this keyword do it is in the doamin name for example http : // mydomain . com / the keywords i wanted.html

I havent ever bothered with keyword density but just made sure my main keyword is the most prominent, if you have actually wrote the content you would know which words are more prominent. I always bold the main keywords also.

On my inner pages i always link to my home page with my main keyword!

ya another good step.

Also @nickjett dont get me wrong you can rank a website for keywords that arent in your domain.

But as far as ranking and be able to outrank people you better have that keyword somewhere in that domain.

Unless you want to buy an aged domain. Which, quite frankly ,is pointless IMO! And you will end up losing money, when you could have just spent 9 bucks and added a word or a hyphen to your domain and get a keyword as the .com

you'll rank higher, quicker, stay longer if you do it this way.

because what will keep you ontop of a site that has a domain age of 11 yrs? your damn keyword in the domain. Guranteed. Then imagine how much authority you will have once your site ages to 11 yrs.

Thats not true about having a keyword in the domain at all, I have out ranked sites with keyword in URL many many times!

Edit:

Posted after your post above - Now I agree sort of, it helps but you really do not need it in the URL at all!

Keyword in the url is essential for sites targeting a single highly competetive keyword.

If you have 15-20 money keywords, good onsite SEO is imperative. I find putting the exact title inside the <h1> works very well.

I do not use meta keywords, but I spend a LOT of time writing meta descriptions as it helps search traffic click.

This i true i have seen plenty of domains ranked number 1 and there domain doesnt have any keyword related to there serps!

Its almost like saying just cus your site has car insurance in the domain name you are going to rank well for car insurance, it wont unless you build links with the term car insurance in the anchor! Even if if is an old domain! it doesnt make a 10 yr old domain rank well cus it has the keywords in the url, it may boost it slightly but thats it!

outranked doesnt mean number 1.

And if you werent number 1 i wonder what was holding you back?

Also just because you outranked sites that had the keyword in the url doesnt mean their SEO was as good as yours. Maybe you had better quality BL or onsite seo.

But you give them your knowledge on SEO and they outrank you.

So there is my point - You do not really need a keyword in the URL

The better "SEO" gets the prize, keyword in the URL or not

and seriously what competiton are you guys competeing against?

Keywords: Fluffy rainbows and purple squared tutus?

If you think you dont need your keyword in your domain SOMEWHERE

I want the shit you guys are snortin :D

you failed to see my point i guess

Again. Give them knowledge of SEO and they blow you out the water BECAUSE THE KEYWORD IS IN THE DOMAIN.

YOU NEED THE WHOLE PACKAGE TO WIN THIS GAME BUDDY.

having one thing better than someone wont keep u at the top forever when someone who knows what they are doing chimes in on your keywords

Oh good point about how search results are being displayed. It shows title and meta description right?

bold keywords you are targeting on the page.

What he is saying that kw in domain helps.

Like if your seo is 8/10 and his seo is 8/10 he will be on top because of KW in domain.

But if your seo is 10/10 and his seo 8/10 you will be on top without kw in your domain. But if he suddenly improves his seo to the level of 10/10 he will be on top again.

So if you are on top without kw does not mean you don't need it, it means that your have way better seo to overcome his advantage of having better domain.
