SlopTracker.org has emerged as a tool to track the impact AI artists are having on the streaming economy - especially the Spotify royalty pool.

The website meticulously tracks AI-generated artists on Spotify, quantifying the royalties that these artists divert from human creators through a data-driven lens. By analyzing patterns, the tracker can identify pure AI music with 99.9% accuracy, though tracks processed with AI present greater challenges to identify.

Estimates suggest that 28% of Spotify’s new uploads stem from AI sources, with SlopTracker uncovering 50 such artists in just one hour of scrutiny. The scale of AI uploads suggests there’s a vast hidden ecosystem of AI artists uploading their music to Spotify. SlopTracker’s calculations offer stark insights into the financial ripple effects of allowing unlabeled AI artists to proliferate on a DSP like Spotify.

For each AI artist, the site evaluates estimated earnings from their top ten songs at $0.004 per stream and projects monthly income based on three times their monthly listeners. It also computes the number of premium subscriptions that are effectively ‘drained’ to fund them, assuming $9.09 per sub contributes to the royalty pool.

Spotify’s pro-rata model amplifies the issue

Take David Allen, whose name and country-inflected sound evoke the country artist David Allen Coe, blurring lines for casual listeners. Breaking Rust seems to draw direct influence from Bryan Elijah SMith and Blanco Brown, with the track “Walk My Walk” scaling Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart.

SlopTracker’s top ten AI artists by estimated top-song earnings, captured for March 21-22 2026 paint a picture of displacement for human artists looking to make a living with their music but without the prolific output of these fake AI artists.

Est. Earnings (Top 10 Songs)

1. Breaking Rust: $297,571

2. Enlly: $200,788

3. Cain Walker: $177,275

4. Jerry’s Sound Room: $161,450

5. Doc Raven: $114,777

6. ZionRay: $111,746

7. Let Babylon Burn: $93,734

8. Drew Meadows: $85,132

9. Georgia Phantom: $82,289

10. Enlly Blue: $77,741

Should we say humans lost it to ai on music

Or they got so advanced really creatively that they no longer need a band to.make.a bock

But how they made those songs? I don't think its one-click whole song generated, they may use AI tools to cooperate.

out of curiosity i queued up a song from the most famous ai-artist mentioned. it's great. i would never guess it's been ai generated. but how many of us can say we've heard ai music before, and can tell the difference. couple months ago i had a peer reach out to me, showing ai music they generated and uploaded to soundcloud. at the time i didn't ask too many questions on the technical setup required. it doesn't take much time to find ai music vendors like mureka[.]ai in the marketspace.
add the capability to create a virtual avatar for your ai-musician. then use LLM's to render music videos based on the avatar. i can see that in the near future. Gorillaz was the band in 1998 (28y ago) who popularized a 'virtual' avatar posse.

great song, too

About - "Breaking Rust" is an AI-generated country music project created in 2025 by Aubierre Rivaldo Taylor.
It gained prominence with the release of the Resilient EP in October 2025, featuring singles such as "Walk My Walk" and "Livin' on Borrowed Time". Wikipedia

This is an AI song,

The part that stands out to me is how invisible this all is to the average listener. If people can’t distinguish AI from real artists, and the system rewards output at scale, then it’s kind of inevitable that this space gets flooded.

you post about the best performing songs.
What about the other 99% ?
Spotify is known that only the first 1-2% make money and the rest gets peanuts in double digits

By the way they sound i doubt it's AI click and poof new top music comes out, i guess the new songwriters using AI do put some thought and feeling into it. If so it's a natural step towards better music, don't see it as stealing anything

Not surprised at all its just volume game now pump tons of tracks and catch algo traffic.

Spotify model rewards streams not quality so AI scales easy.

And thats only the top of the iceberg! What people are doing with farms and AI music is a whole nother level :D

Yapay zekâ ile oluşturulan müziği tespit etmek imkansız mı? Elde edilen gelir, dinlendiği ülkeye göre değişiyor mu?

Many people still cannot distinguish between images and videos created by AI and real ones, let alone music created by AI.

Yep! Take a look at how many people actually thot Jessica Foster was a real person. A few months ago somebody made a deepfake video showing France under attack by terrorists and it fooled many people.

If you can generate unlimited tracks at near-zero cost and the payout model doesn’t distinguish between real vs AI, then of course people will flood the place

Spotify generally accepts all but the question is only few get paid with AI songs basically have been having issues with using them for two years now to be frank each time I think I get hold of them their algorithm changes

Overall few people get paid from spotify since they dont crack the 1000 streams a year. If you refer to phone streaming you need to adjust your farm! Also you should think about stepping away from Spotify as they just dont pay a lot per stream.

I do have Knowledge about Spotify but i did not test it myself as i just think they are a joke. So i really would like to not share it since i did not test it and others told me their secret so i dont want to talk it out. One thing that i can say is: Its always very important to make it look like normal human behavior!
