Hello,
Recently ive been hunting on expireddomains to find related domains that went out. The problem im facing is these domains mostly or always have very very low traffic history. Were can i find domains that expired with history? like some filter...Or does that even exist? what are my options here.

Please feel free to help

Domains with real traffic history are often hard to find because valuable ones are usually picked up very quickly. You can use filters on Expireddomains.net to check factors like backlinks, age, and past activity, then review the domain history with tools like Ahrefs or SEMrush. Another option is to explore domain auctions, where aged domains with some history are more commonly available.

Yes, it exists. On Expireddomains.net, use filters like Archive.org snapshot, domain age, backlinks, and DMAS/DMOZ listed to find domains with real history. You can also check metrics in Ahrefs or Majestic to see past traffic and backlinks before buying.

archive.org is the way to go check how many captures urls etc..
filter through expireddomains (no one will tell you the exact filters they use you will have to figure that part out) after that filter more using ahref and semrush data then use archive.org for manual check up it is time consuming which is why most people prefer to buy them from resellers

Most domains that are truly worth it have already been snatched. You might want buy from resellers. There are few on BHW.

Thanks guys, did not even know that existed. Thank you!

Most expired domains show low traffic because the good ones are usually caught before they fully drop.
Best approach:
  1. Use filters on ExpiredDomains.net
    Age: 5+ years
    Domain Pop (DP): 20+
    Archive snapshots: 5+
  2. Verify traffic history using Ahrefs or SEMrush to check old organic keywords.
  3. Check the old site in the Wayback Machine to confirm it was a real website.
If you want domains with actual traffic history, try auction platforms like GoDaddy Auctions or NameJet instead of fully expired domains.

Finding expired domains with real traffic history is tricky because most tools don’t track detailed traffic once a site goes down. You can try:
  • Using Ahrefs or SEMrush to check historical backlinks and estimated traffic before expiration.
  • Looking for domains that had active content in the niche and some referring domains.
  • Setting filters for “premium” or “high authority” expired domains on marketplaces.
Pure traffic filters rarely exist, so you often have to combine metrics like backlinks, DA/DR, and niche relevance.

ExpiredDomains is useful, but most names there are already heavily filtered by other people, so finding one with strong old traffic is not that common.

You can try focusing more on domains with backlink history, archive history, and old indexed pages rather than expecting real traffic history on most of them. A lot of the value is usually in the links and relevance, not in the previous traffic itself.

Also check the domain in Archive.org and Ahrefs or similar tools before buying, because a lot of expired domains look good on the surface but were abused before.

You’re right, most expired domains have low traffic. Some tools let you filter by backlinks or age, but traffic history is tricky. Usually you just check metrics like Ahrefs or SEMrush before buying.

Yes, it exists. Use filters for backlinks, domain age, and traffic history instead of just new drops.

Also, check the domain’s past using archive tools to confirm it had real content. Focus on domains with quality backlinks, not just metrics.

Simply change the TLD haha. I'm guessing you've been using expireddomains (.net). Check the .com and see if the results are better. Plus they have a traffic filter

Most expired domains show low traffic because by the time they drop, the rankings are already gone. Instead of focusing only on past traffic, check for signals that could rebuild value existing backlinks, topical relevance, and whether some pages are still indexed. Tools like archive snapshots can also reveal if the site had real content before. A common mistake is chasing traffic history alone while ignoring toxic link profiles.

Expired domains will, almost always, hot show traffic and not be indexed, but they will regain it easily when re registered.

I don't have the energy as much, these days, to keep hammering this shit home on here but anyone saying that expired domains are dead is lying to you and want the domains for themselves. Anyone claiming it is hard to find expired domains, or to get them reindexed is lying to you. The people questioning the effectiveness of expired domains in 2026 is either a bot or woefully uninformed.

Finding such domains can truly be difficult, especially those that were once strong, because they are usually picked up very quickly. A practical way is to search on platforms like ExpiredDomains.net (etc.) and use filters for age, backlinks, and past activity. After that, it’s important to review the domain’s history and backlink profile with SEO tools before deciding to use it. If you want to avoid this hassle, you can also buy them from a reseller.

Most expired domains don’t have real traffic history. Only a small number had actual SEO value or regular visitors, so you usually need to manually check backlinks, history, and metrics before buying.

It's actually very trivial. Video guides in my sig show how easy it is. People saying it is hard to find them just wants less competition, or to sell their domains.

Expired domains with strong traffic history are harder to find because they’re usually picked up quickly. One approach is to filter by backlinks, referring domains, and archive history to identify domains that previously had real activity.

You can also check tools like Ahrefs or SimilarWeb to verify past traffic and avoid domains with spammy link profiles. Sometimes monitoring pending delete or auction lists can help you catch better domains before they’re gone.

Most expired domains don’t have much traffic left. Usually people focus more on backlink profile and domain age instead.

I find domains with existing traffic extremely rare because professional domain hunters use automated tools to snatch them all up. You should prioritize finding domains with clean and strong backlinks then use your automated content writing tool to drive traffic back that would be more realistic.
