Been a very hectic couple of weeks. Small update since I’m on my phone.

Goal:

5k clicks/week within 30 days of this post. I think it's possible, will prove myself right.

Almost there. Been 35 days since I set that goal, quite happy with it.

Okie dokie, goal reached.



Site is doing well, seeing ranking improvements all around. Google is definitely doing something, I know there's been volatility but it seems like they may have rollbacked some of the changes from the last update that negatively affected the site.

Or Google just realised I'm cooking.

Couple more articles have been pushed out, but I'm severely lacking on content.

What I have been doing is working on the links and general page UX / content optimisations for collection pages.

I'm going to be working on siloing the shopify collections, making sub collections etc. I've always noticed Google favouring shopify collections much more than wordpress categories, might just be because most shopify templates are more user friendly than categories and better optimised. It's weird.

The site is getting to a point where traffic will breakout, at least I hope. I'm going to keep up with optimisations and will get a solid content plan made (fingers crossed, procrastinating here too much)

It's a very low investment compared to competitors (sorry I can't give an exact sum hehe), and it's been profit since well before the beginning of the journey

Most of the traffic gains come from content and onpage wins, paired with a very cost effective linkbuilding strategy.

Not very time intensive either, but this month I will be locking in and aiming to double traffic within the next 3-4 months.

Just to add, I've been working on the AI optimisation side of things (whoever says AIO is snake oil can suck it) and have had a 1100% increase in chatgpt traffic so far. Will provide an update on this when I get the time

Learned a lot in these past few weeks. Have a solid plan in place for 2026, very excited to see the results.

Core update actually boosted a few pages. Doing everything right, now just need to grow authority.

Broke into the millies impression wise finally.

Strong steady growth, been focusing more on the offpage side now and content has slowed a little.

Getting some more posts out and doubling down on what's been working.

Will have some exciting updates in the near future, I can feel it

AI optimisation has also done well. Ofc both go hand in hand but there's a few key differences that are definitely important to address.

Been a great few weeks since my last update. Averaging around 90~k clicks each month and on the up and up.

Offpage work seems to be working well. Genuinely believe I can become a strong authority in this niche within this year. And when that happens, boy oh boy.

Great thread. How do u handle Shopifys URL structure? If I create subcategories, it stays /collections/subcategory, Like there is no maincategory before in URL..... Its not that easy customizable vs. WooCommerce, right?

I've kept it as is. You can custom code it so that the /collections/ is dropped, but honestly in my experience I've found that the natural structure of Shopify is very well liked by Google.

There's a reason that lots of blackhat sites / PBNs use the Shopify structure to get past Google's prying eyes.

How exactly do you mean sub-collections in Shopify? From my understanding Shopify doesn’t really allow a true sub-collection URL structure, since everything sits under /collections/.

For example, are you structuring it more like:
dog-furniture → dog-furniture/beds → dog-furniture/sofas (this is not working in Shopify I believe?)

Or are these just separate collections like:
collections/dog-furniture, collections/dog-beds, collections/dog-sofas?

Good question. I've tested both and here's what worked best in my case.

Nested collections with our custom theme didn't perform as well as separate collections. Separate collections being: /collections/dog-beds

With my wordpress sites I usually go the nested route, but with this site currently I rely on:

- The main collection 'hub' page /dog-furniture/ links out to all the 'spoke' subcollections with a fat article on the collection page.
- These subcollections are then further backed with internal links from the blog.

From my experience Google likes Shopify's flat subcollections.

One more question just to understand your structure better: do you also create a broader “parent” topic page above the main collection hub?

For example in your case something like a general “dog” page that links to “dog furniture”, which then links to the more specific collections like dog beds, dog sofas, etc.

I’m asking because sometimes broader keywords also have search volume for terms like “X buy” rather than only the specific product keywords.

Curious if you also build pages around those broader terms or if you start directly with the main collection hub like “dog furniture”.
