i dont understand 2030. can anyone explain to me?
That "2030: learn how to survive in the woods" line is part joke, part commentary.
It plays on how advice about "the future" keeps shifting:
In 2020, coding was hyped as the ultimate career skill.
By 2025, practical trades like plumbing started getting more attention because they can’t be easily automated or outsourced.
By 2030, the exaggeration is that society might decline so much (due to climate change, economic collapse, resource shortages, or even tech overreach) that the most valuable skill won’t be coding or plumbing, but literal survival, knowing how to find food, build shelter, make fire, and live off the land.
So the "woods" part isn’t literal for everyone, but a metaphor for self-sufficiency if modern systems fail.
Basically: it’s a darkly funny way of saying “things might get so bad you’ll need survival skills, not jobs.”
