It definitely would work. Just make sure you use proxies, otherwise, you'll have trouble from the ISP.

For xrumer RAM is not so important 4GB RAM is enough most important is CPU and network. I recommend at least computer with Quad core CPU and 100mbit/s internet 20mbit/s will be good but it will not run with full capacity.
Then next Important thing is your ISP if they do not complain about spam then good you can run from home, if they complain about spam complaints then you can try to find some VPN service with unlimited bandwidth.
I run my xrumer from home more than 9 months it runs even faster as on some dedicated servers and never got complaints from my both ISP.

Well, depending on your countries law you might get serious trouble.

So if you want to use it from home, also think about the vast number of DNS requests. Although I used my home computer in the beginning, I am not to scared. If you are not, then you might do the following in ascending order considering security:

1. use XR from home, but with proxies.
2. use XR and a VPN service: most VPNs offer max 5MBit/s an will shut you down, if you do not use proxies
3. use XR and VPN on a small box, but with huge traffic

Extra security: use a free DNS server (might shut you down when you have too many requests).

RAM is important if you want to use the antispam feature, which gets more and more important. Pure spam links are not worthless, but not worth the effort.

QuadCore + 20MBit is very fine.

Well I bought hidemyass's VPN which has unlimited bandwidth so I guess I'll use that & use OpenDNS, anyone know the official website? I saw like an xrumer blog and another site selling it, not sure which one is official..

i downloaded xrumer 5 for free, found a couple of zlinks lists around the net and i use it with at&t uverse with no problems. i have the 2 or 3 mbp connection plan or whatever the fastest plan is that they offer. i havent received one warning or anything from my isp. sometimes i get the automated queries warning from google but thats about it.

Of course it would work. But, to stay safe, at least get yourself some strong and reliable proxies and/or VPN Accounts. I'd personally recommend a dedicated server ... much more leniency in terms of bandwidth allowance etc

if you can afford it get a decent dedi, with additional private proxies,
4 GB RAM min, fast processor, unlimited bandwidth, 100MB/s connection..

You could xrumer on a shitty system with a 512kb connection, I seriously don't know why your going on about systems with 16 gig of memory, it's not needed.
