I know it might sound ambitious, but it’s not crazy — the internet is vast and full of space for healthy competition.
Here are a few key ways I plan to do things differently:

1. Unlike Reddit, which doesn’t reward users for engagement,

My Advantage: I will share ad revenue with users. As long as a post keeps generating views, the creator keeps earning — recurring income, not one-time rewards.

2. Reddit is mostly global and topic-based.

My Advantage: Let users discover and engage with trending posts, communities, and creators in their city, region, or country — enabling hyper local relevance.

3. Reddit thrives on anonymity, but that also invites trolls.

My Advantage: Offer optional identity verification and user trust scores, helping build safer, more accountable communities.

4 . Reddit is still largely text-focused.
My Advantage: Support short videos, reels, and visual content as core features — giving creators more engaging formats than plain posts.

5. Reddit’s app is cluttered.
My Advantage: Offer a sleek, mobile-first experience with intuitive posting, editing, analytics, and tools made for creators.

6. Reddit often bans entire communities without warning.

My Advantage: Use AI-assisted moderation, appeals, and community-guided filtering to avoid heavy-handed censorship while still protecting users.

7. Gamification Beyond Karma.

My Advantage: Turn user engagement into points, rewards, badges, and unlockable features — making participation more fun and valuable.

Why It Will Work:
SEO content alone isn’t enough — quality content drives true rankings. However, many in the younger generation are more drawn to the social side of the internet than in-depth discussions. So my platform would bridge that gap by offering dedicated spaces for both — vibrant social interaction and meaningful, high-quality conversations. This ensures a balanced experience that caters to both engagement and substance.

How am building this:
I am currently solo on this, am a full stack dev and a digital marketer with more than 10 years experience, this project would be worth my time and i know it would yield a good revenue overtime.

Estimated launch date:
Monday 15th, September, 2025.

Your suggestions are most welcome

Great idea and I wish you all the best success.

But be honest with yourself. The Internet is owned by a handful of wealthy people and corporations.

So unless you've got a truckload of money or have kick ass business contacts... Your chances of becoming a competitor to Reddit are low.
Trump helped start 'Truth Social' and even with all his money and influence it's not doing so great when compared to the others.

It's ambitious yes. But your USP's seem solid.

A revenue system akin to X/Twitter would be enticing. Maybe only allow ad rev once an account is verified? To reduce bots.

Regional topic based targeting is also a unique spin. I could imagine myself using something like that, to see what's going on in my region.

Obviously the biggest challenge would be getting a large enough userbase. Your revenue idea would probably help that a lot.

Not totally correct. Have you seen any duscussion online on google from truth social before? Its a complete social media, am Building a social media and a discussion platform. An open conversation platform not needing session to view, only to post and comment.

My pre marketing can get me up to 50k users, that's all I need for a start.

Revenue will also come in from visitors/first time readers, so there is no load of cash constraints its just quality investment in SEO.

Now that is an ambitious journey! I'd love to see it in action and I hope you build something nice that gets some traction. As soon as you are ready to show something we can try, I'd be pretty happy to view and test. Good luck!

Nice project.
Let us know when it becomes available.

Good luck on your journey, brother. Let us know when you launch it so we can support you and join.

You should think about onboarding meme culture early, it drives virality.

Great, Best of luck, can you thinking about copywrite content. when you

share ad revenue with users. how can you filter that.

thanks

This is an absolutely awful idea.

You're basically trying to create some sort of hybrid reddit/tiktok.

You don't have a hope in hell of making this work, even if you had $50mil of investment.

Why would you do this?

There are SO SO MANY ultra lucrative niches out there that you can make $10 mil per YEAR in.

$10 mil per year is small. That's a little niche business. Why go after a $10+ billion yearly business?

You're living during the AI goldrush, and you're going to waste it building something that's a total waste of time. This is like saying you're going to create the next walmart and then opening a market stall.

Good luck with that! I hope it works out for you, just like it once did for Reddit.

The power of reddit is karma system and the subreddits concepts, IMHO you should keep the Kamra sustem where the users votes for the content but you need to remove the downvote only, like other platform do youtube and tiktok, they have only like button this way anyone can express themselfes no one can opress youu because they have the power to downvote you and get even your accountto get banned this concept is killing reddit really, also you need work on NSFW topics if you gonna allow them or not, this gonna effect the ads revneus in the future and it is hard to get rid of those topics oncez you allow them on your platform, and very good luck.

I think you have got something here bravo.

Also add the fact that Reddit is a mindhive where people have to 'follow suit' and are downvoted into oblivion for having a different viewpoint on a topic.

Find a way of dealing with that and you will tap into a large pool on unsatisfied users.

Relax and monitor the train's journey.

Relax and monitor the train's journey.

Your choice to waste one of the greatest opportunities ever by creating old tech 20 years too late and ignoring what's going to be an era where more millionaires and billionaires are made than any other time in history.

Good luck! I'll be building my AI company to take advantage personally.
