Will long form content die slowly on YouTube ?

YouTube already have very high reach for shorts.Now they have introduced 3 minute shorts also. Will these changes result in death of long form content on YouTube slowly ?

What you mean by shorts don't work ? The views that comes in shorts is many times that in long videos.

Long form content will die. Attention span of new generations is extremely short because of introuction of tiktok and short format videos. Long form will exist for some time till "older" folks still watch, but new people out there rarely sits trough 10 minute video.

IMHO
The first to die is horizontal content (everyday people is consuming more YouTube time from mobile). Some videos are absurd in horizontal (I'm not interested in your background collection of funkos). Horizontal content looks awful in mobile
Then I'll be long videos turn. The same, is absurd to see the face of the majority of streamers and podcast speakers because most people only consume the audio. Most YouTubers are stirring the pot only because there is a urban legend about your videos have to be at least 10 minutes long. Add this to the reduction of people retention time in a specific issue and long videos are going to be outdated soon.
Long videos are going to be reserved only for courses in which there is a screen saver or relevant visual content associated (YouTube says that is working in a new tab for courses)

People don't watch these videos, people put them in the screen to hear them or tu use them as background noise

Long form video contents will not die. Just like long form blog contents. The most important thing is the structure and value of the video (whether long or short)

Sometimes when I open YT app I am prompted straight to shorts. I have to press 'back' once to get back to main. Imo YT pushes shorts as much as they can.

Podcast, vlog, tutorials these will surely survive
