I had no idea, not that in to iPhone´s, my cheap 6 year old Nokia 7 Plus does the job of calling and sms as good as iPhone 16 I guess. iPhone 16 starts from $1100 here in Sweden, way to much for something I use to just call and sms from.

Well, I guess I´m going to have to pay above that next time I buy a phone in the next 4-5 years when mine break down, even Pixel phones are expensive, but if one have a phone for 10 years it comes out at $150 per year or so, so not that much, problem as I see it is people change their phones yearly or every 2 years then it becomes expensive.

Because it is a status symbol. Higher status equals higher access to resources thus survival and reproduction.

It may sound far fetched to you but everyone is trying to increase their status whether they consciously understand it or not.
