Why is cold email marketing less effective since September?

I started cold email marketing at the end of last year, sending an average of 500,000-1,000,000 emails per day, which could bring me $5,000-$10,000 in sales per day. But from September onwards, the results suddenly became very poor and sales dropped to just a few hundred dollars.

From the ESP platform, my campaign open rate and click-through rate didn't drop. But from my website backend to check the traffic source, I found that the vast majority of the traffic is from Microsoft, Oracle Cloud, Akamai Connected Cloud, Google Cloud, Digital Ocean, Amazon, CloudFlare and other companies, not real users.

I don't understand what's happening and I'm guessing if it's related to the US election? Because most of my recipients are from the US. Has anyone else run into the same problem?

What platform are you using to send 500k emails per day? Maybe they were blacklisted

Isn't it cause there was a spam thing introduced recently to emails to stop spamming? It was fronted by google and others I think

Indeed. It gets tougher every year.
I remember a time late last year or early this year when Google and many other ESPs force Dmarc and DKIM. Not just SPF. This may have necessitated re-evaluation of sender quality score. You have to do things insanely, properly now.

Even at that you may still land in spam folder if you're sending too fast these day unless you are some big corporation and of course if you run your own campaign on your own sending server, they gotta be a bulletproof with clean unique IPs. Not just subnets. ESPs can already tell that you are on a range of IPs trying to game them.

That means you'll have to rotate sending servers. Not IPs. That's one of the reasons I love Mailwizz. Expensive? Yes crazy expensive as you'd be putting money one one IP per server. Multiple clean bulletproof servers. But it works.

I don't think building your own server and sending it in rotation should work any better than using aws ses. I have more faith in aws ses ability to do this well.

I'm using multiple accounts + multiple domains to send and I've also tried sendgrid, mailgun, brevo, etc. and it's all become very ineffective.

How many domains are you using to send 500k emails though? The average gmail account can safely send 70-120 max per day without getting fried

But ses will ban you for vold emails anyway.

I use 10+ domains. Will I be banned by google if I use gmail to send marketing emails?

It depends on the volume that you send, the content, bounce-rate...you'll need to use a solution that correctly rotates your accounts, uses an anti-detect browser and proxies.

Make sure to use spintax

That's part of your problem. Google workspace emails can only send around 100 emails per day roughly each. You should be sending 1000 emails per day. At sending 500k per day you are not pitching people an offer, you are spamming. There's no industry to where you can just blast out 500k emails per day and not immediately extinguish your list. If you are just sending to a bulk list of 500k people, chances are the list(s) is not clean. What are you offering to people via email?

Many companies have stepped up their outreach efforts in the fall, resulting in crowded inboxes and lower response rates than before. And the election is about to begin. There may be one reason for this.

All I can say is that ESPs and email clients are becoming more sophisticated in filtering junk emails.

Thanks for the reply, I think that's what it is!

I'm not saying I use gmail to send 500k, I use ses to send.
