META is closing all the websites that sell Instagram accounts!

Just searched this:

Facebook, Inc. et al v. Gajjar

Case was dismissed

This case is alot more severe. Potential fraud here. Still was dismissed last filing was June 17, 2022.

People selling organic IG likes/followers/accounts is a gray market nothing like what leakcloak apparently did.

Facebook is going to spend more money on legal fees than money they'll get back at any of these companies they're pursuing. Most of these companies may not even have any financial savings at all saved up as they are all small businesses like insta-sale. Assume purpose of them retaining legal counsel is simply to shut down this industry.

Cat and mouse as always, the mouse has agility and reproduction on it's side. The cat has size/power.

A good chunk of their reasoning is to get the word out that they are coming for the sellers.

It's almost like a marked police car sitting on the side of the road. Almost everyone slows to the speed limit out of fear.

They won't get everyone but they will put a little fear in many and they will close up shop.

BTW, they cross country borders so lining in the middle of nowhere in a country whose name is hard to pronounce will not stop them from coming.

It's surprising that META isn't focusing on shutting down telegram channels, discord servers, subreddits etc. I just checked and they even have facebook groups selling accounts, followers and likes. If they want to get the word out, why not censor your own site?

They have their priorities backwards.

On our website, we've had cases of actual sellers being targeted in this recent purge. In some instances, META requested the forfeiture of all income made from the IG/FB sales :D

They said that to me back when I was gaming a popular classifieds site.

I just ignored them and was hoping for a notification via the postal office/Fedex/UPS or others so I could add that silliness to my collection of others that have done similar as I was using trademarks, fake sites of major companies and banking on their good will.

Let them go to a fish fry on a Friday night as that request is akin to a paper tiger.

Yeah, our lawyers told me that (at least in our country) emails from law firms can be tossed in the trash as it's not considered a legal form of communication in such scenarios. They need to mail you actual papers, which you need to sign for. That's why it's wise to always ask your mailman "who's it from" before accepting any unannounced package :D

How does that help to bank to use trademarks and fake websites of big companies?

If I come off with a website that is a 99% replica of UPS/Fedex/Amazon or all the others I used it is taking advantage of their reputation to generate revenue and the issue is a DMCA one so they get shut down.

The best was Uber back in the day as the ROI for me was so good it was borderline illegal and, man, were they pissed.

Do you think selling clone Instagram accounts is criminal? If it's just civil, should they continue their business?

No, it is a civil matter as you suggest.

It is not a law, just against their terms of service which would not hold up in a criminal court anyway.

But they use real people's photos on those fake insta accounts. From where they copy.

I tell you something.

Why they don't ask for ID verification or something before account creation?

Plenty of reasons, but the primary one is that their platform doesn't make sense without multiple accounts. It's just that it won't be possible to do any reasonable business there without multiple accounts. And they probably know it.

Even whitest of white hat usera get banned. Hence they allow multiple registrations. And it'd kinda suck to have it all on one account. Multiple accs are good for varied content.

Other than that, most kids wouldn't have accounts creating a land of adults there. Not even BHW is that strict about age verification.

Buy/sell Instagram websites aren't illegal in any way, nor do they break Instagram's Terms of Service. Insta-Sale.com, as its own entity, never agreed to Instagram's TOS; it was just a facilitator of sales. That's why even giants like Escrow.com have had a "Social Media Accounts" category for a few years now. IG can, however, stop you from using the word "Instagram," which will effectively kill any website in that niche.

FWIW, Meta has a team that tracks all the domains it finds. Once your website is under their radar, they will ask you to shut down all your related websites.
Eventually, if someone clones your website with your brand name, they ask you to stop them, too.
