It's raw data, raw data has little value compared to massaged data (semrush).

The choice between SEMrush and Google Keyword Planner depends on your specific needs. If you're focused on Google Ads, the Keyword Planner may be enough. However, for a more comprehensive SEO strategy with competitor analysis and additional features, SEMrush might be the preferred tool.

Let's first sort this out:
Google's keyword planner and SEMRush get their data from the same API (owned by Google, obviously). This makes them both equally inaccurate, and the main difference between them is the rate in which they update their DB via the API.
You can use whichever you want, I prefer SEMRush because they enrich the data from the API, as well as suggesting more relevant keywords. But no matter which of them you choose, the search volume would be equally off.

I love Semrush because it provides deeper insights like keyword difficulty, competition analysis, organic traffic estimates, related keywords, and SERP features.
The other things I like is that it offers keyword clustering, backlink analysis, content gap analysis, and competitor research, making it a complete SEO suite.

Google Planner hides lots of data - not a reliable source in my opinion.

In my personal opinion, I initially used keyword Planner which resulted in better experience. But after few months, i started using SEMrush which also gave me a good experience. So i would choose / suggest SEMrush for a good experience.

For beginners, Google Keyword Planner is adequate. With SEO experience, it remains my initial choice. Why? Because I understand SEO. My goal is to ensure that the keywords I aim to rank for organically have sufficient search volume, and Google recognizes the traffic. Uncovering hidden keywords with massive volume is unlikely. I typically deduct 20% from total impressions for ROI calculations. Subsequently, I incorporate these "seed" terms strategically into the content. While there are various paid tools, SEMrush is my preferred choice.
If you're looking for low option, you may want to consider alternatives such as Ahrefs. You might want to consider joining a group buy to save costs.

Semrush gives you specific set of keywords relevant to your queries with a set of numbers and estimation, where as google keyword planner gives you result which might be useful for a basic research with approximate value like 1K-10K. Both the tools are good to use as per your SEO Needs

Group buys also have limitations. I've used this, you can request a refund if it doesn't work properly.

As for me, I like to collect tons of KWs, so I use all available sources to get as many KWs as I can.
