He didn't pay a dime, he owned it, x.com was the name give to his payment processor before they renamed it to paypal, so he's the owner

I wonder if Twitter accounts/users will be used the same as they did with Threads/IG usernames, for any other platforms Musk will open up.

I can see the sense in Twitter being part of the same brand as other projects he has.
