wordpress or wix ?

Hi BHW users ,

im planning to open a educational consultant agency website

i had build some ecom website on wix but i have not used wordpress before .. but i'm planning to buy some theme like avas and optimize it to my website
The website will be a pages of some universities and scholarship and prices and for apply
-seo is not difficult in my target

What do you recommend to use by ( easier and seo & user friendly and cost )
and for a wordpress what do you recommend hosting and theme can work for me

Do you have it? Go for WP
Don't you? Then stay with what you know, Wix.
WP will give you more flexibility and options but also probably more headaches.
Wix is not always the worst option, specially if you pay for it enought Combo Tier+ or Business Tier (not the cheap tier)

Everyone that said "WordPress" is obviously right.....
But I think it would be more helpful to mention some reasons why exactly, WordPress is better

Main and Major Reason is:

FLEXIBILITY
WordPress gives you the developer a lot of flexibility to customize exactly how you want your Website to look and behave. This is a MAJOR advantage.

SECURITY
Many might be thinking "But WordPress is not secure". However, as a PHP developer and Security Researcher, I can tell you that WordPress core is actually very secure. The main reason is that WordPress is open source and Developers all over the world are free to scrutinize the codebase so closely. So even if an entire team misses a security bug, it is unlikely that every other developer around the world would also miss it.

WordPress only seems insecure due to the fact that it has so many Plugins and new plugins are released almost every day. Most security issues come from low-quality plugins.

With that said if you decide to go with WordPress, you probably should use a Shared Hosting package. The "CUSTOMIZABILITY" of WordPress could be very limited if you decide to go for a "WordPress Hosting" package (Completely defeating the entire purpose of the Flexibility).

Also, make sure you update WordPress core, Plugins and Themes very regularly

If you are not familiar with WP you will suffer for some time probably its not as easy as they make it to be when you dont know anything about it, especially compared to wix
if you think its worth it going through the learning curve, then definitely go with WP

Convenience or customizability
Wix is convenient and has most things there more or less, but at the same time, restricted on how to do things.
While Wordpress if flexible, it lets you do whatever you want as long as you know how to get it done
whether it is modifying files or adding plugins.
Wix becomes alot easier to manage and maintain while WP maintains a complete constant shit show.

Both will do fine as a website.

However, I will insist that WordPress is quite easy. Remember that WordPress was actually originally created for Non Technical people. It was created as a Blogging script.

WordPress offers a lot of possibilities for hardcore developers like us but, trust me, you will be amazed at the kind of things NON-Tech people can actually do with WordPress (Without a single PHP statement).

WordPress offers a lot of possibilities for hardcore developers like us but, trust me, you will be amazed at the kind of things NON-Tech people can actually do with WordPress (Without a single PHP statement).

I know its possible, but it will take time. Even using elementor will cause problems to the beginner because when you are building a website, its just not drag and drop, and you have to think about everything, where every setting is, where you can edit that and that, and then to find a plugin for a smallest possible thing that it seems almost weird that you need plugin for it etc. WP is at times very illogical and especially for no coders, it can get pretty bloated.

If you dont want elementor, you can do gutenberg, which is pretty fine, but its one of the most illogical website builders i have ever seen, its complicated for no reason and switching from elementor, if you got uset to it, to gutenberg will probably be a pain as well.
