chatgpt becoming useless

xaxaxa

I am ultra specific always. So specific that I almost write the code using words. It's a little bit more comfortable and faster than doing google searching or recalling classes from memory.

So I didn't notice any diff. It's free chat-gpt-3.5. There might be some difference in chat-gpt premium.

I used to be amazed by coding with Chatgpt. But recently its responses are becoming generic, dumb, false and literally wasting my time...

It gives me simply non-working code.

At this point its faster to use google again...

:(
Brov! It's all in the prompt mate. U sure u doing it right?

I've had the same experience. Code from Chat-GPT almost never works for me. I'll paste it in, get an error, give the error back to GPT, then it will correct itself -- then I'll add the correction, and there'll be another error, then I'll paste that back in and GPT will correct itself again, and it just goes on and on like that. Eventually, I just give up and look for tutorials and documentation. Maybe this isGod telling us to stop being so lazy ;)
Hilarious dude! If u knew code, u will loove what chatgpt does. It's basically the assistant I never had. No need to explain myself over n over, just straight to the point and we understand each other. Brov, my productivity rate has gone through the roof. I am getting all sorts of things done. Ideas I had lying around are all being implemented.

Agreed. I can totally feel the drop in quality. These days it just sends a pile of garbage that looks like code but works like shit. Maybe they realized how good it was with all the “ChatGPT killing coding jobs” outcry and decided to make it an ultra premium pro max feature.
Garbage in, garbage out... the number 1 rule of coding. Helps to learn to code as I always say, then you'd know exactly what to ask

Why? Why learn anything? Just ask ChatGPT to do it for you. Doesn't matter if you don't even know how it's working... inb4 ppl start asking ChatGPT how to ask ChatGPT stuff...

I still get some good experience with ChatGPT. But I'm not using it for coding only..

For me it has been just the opposite.
It has helped me a lot with most of my programming related tasks.
Specially with database and programming errors.

I think you are expecting too much from this AI software. They will evolve and create good responses, but for now... it's only useful to complete school homework.

You should get chat gpt plus for more sophisticated prompts
it won't be free forever at full capacity

I think it has to do with the usage of it being way up. Making it harder to generate full code using less processing then before

Yeah. That could be the reason because millions of people are using it for even some random things or questions.

What kind of code / prompts are you guys using?

I agree the quality in code response at the start was better.

It helped me with a complex algorithm, now it won't help with a for loop.

Went from Mid level coding buddy to a very junior one.

lol... suit yourself :anyway:

That’s not the point here. But if you insist, in terms of garbage, it was “ garbage in, quality out” at the start and now it is “<anything in>, garbage out”. Even instructing it specifically what needs to be done where in the code doesn’t help. It just continues to pretend like everything is fine. This may not be noticeable much in simple coding tasks though

i use it for content writing.

imo, the more technical stuff is going to come later. like 6 months from now.

ai is going to take over everything. 40% of jobs will be over and done with.
no more middle class.

hello socialism.

I use pro and sometimes I have to make some changes in code, but generally it's good option for build application skeleton. I thought the same like OP but I used to use it less often, now it's everyday, it generates more chances for errors.
