(UPDATE) December 2022 Link Spam Update

Or late Thanksgiving :D
If Google had its way, it'd be releasing an update every day of the year. :D Just for the fun of it and for scaring webmasters.

Avoid any manipulation and tampering. AI is amazing

I guess you are not cheap with you bl's. So, what do you think hit it?
I believe it has something to do with the backlinks expecially from guestpost / sponsored.

This update also favour authority site even more rather than its relevancy / e.a.t

I have often wondered if Google really does enjoy scaring webmasters. I think sometimes they announce updates that do not really exist because they know just by saying "we are launching an update to crack down on XYZ" a percentage of webmasters will change their behavior and tactics even though Google did nothing at all except say they were doing something.

So building even more backlinks - just higher quality ones?

How the algo will neutralize the effect? By deindexing spam link or by algo penalty to the money site?
I would think it would ignore backlinks vs penalizing a site. It's impossible to tell who did the backlinks and if a penalty actually got applied then negative SEO becomes a big thing. At that point it all becomes a mess, google has tons more links to try to process, and overall SERP quality suffers.

And let me take this opportunity to say just how many times the SERP quality and google truly understanding what the average person is looking for is not impressive. Many times google gives what we used to call the Microsoft answer ... true, but completely useless. Like when you are searching for something on Windows 10 and google gives you something on Windows 95 written back in 2005.

That's why I think google gets more credit for cutting-edge than is reality. Sites get hit that aren't big enough to be above scrutiny and blackhat becomes more appealing for the effort.

It could be true :D

Dont blame google if update's, cuz what the place you go is google itself :)) Merry Christmast everyone ^^v cheers

This update effect only bad backlinks site who force to index backlinks. My site get increase this month more. The update will leave after 2 weeks.

Thank goodness I am able to rank sites without relying on backlinks

If anyone got burned by the MAY UPDATE, it's a reminder that bad link buys can and WILL hurt you in the long run

One site went from 4500$ a month to 12$
Great Christmas present

I don't know if it was the AI Content or the tier 2 spam links that got it. Maybe it was the indexers (only used on tier 1+2)

Don't index your backlink unless you want to get a slap on the wrist from google. They only need to be crawled to get the juice. Google doesn't want spam backlinks to show on the serps and they will remove a lot if you force index them when they don't need to be.

From what I am seeing Google is going squarely after AI or AI-like content even in this update.
