it all depends on the type of activity for which you need to use real devices. If these are bots for subscribers and likes to sell to their customers, then this is a good idea. With this approach, the payback of the device will not be very long, about 1-1. 5 months. This is very fast for your business. If your activity brings very little, then it is better to use emulators, of course, but emulators are bad because instagram understands that this is a fake device. And it can greatly restrict actions.

If I can add my two cents based on personal experience, it's impossible to find any desktop emulators or virtual machines that will go unnoticed especially because of the specifics of cryptography used on OS and application levels and also because of databses that record 'device classes' with potentially all variations, which are surpsingly finite, at least for the conventional browsers and devices.
I presume for mobile devices this is even more the case since all smartphones have built in hardware sensors that can easily act as unique identifiers. So even if someone masters spoofing of all android or iOS software, you can't get away with this one since you're lacking the embedded systems involved.

So with that being said I wouldn't be surprised if OP is on the right lines - a real device will probably get you further unless you over do it. It's not black and white, the detection systems will be triggered with varying degrees of action based on probabilities of how likely or unlikely a user is to be a fraud or is violating tos - I imagine the algos will be more likely to flag somone if they're using a real device who would've been otherwise outright blocked if using an emulator, all else being equal!

I hope that makes sense. It's late and I feel i'm rambling a bit.

As I personally know people who are easily managing 5000+ accounts on real devices.

And when we start making money, it's very easy to scale with just a fraction of the cost of what we earn.
