Is this a real question? Of course there are benefits to owning a car. The big one is that I can go anywhere I want any time I want, stop whenever, wherever, and for as long as I want, and come home when I want. Public transportation doesn’t do that. Uber and the like can do something similar, but are very expensive. I picked up my Triumph from the dealer in Reno and the Uber there was over $50. My least efficient vehicle would have burned two gallons of premium at about $4.50 a gallon.

Then there’s the matter of enjoyment. Riding a bus will get you where you need to go, but it isn’t fun. Driving is fun if you do it right. It can be very fun if you do it right with the right car. 5000 rpm and WOT from a 5.3 liter V12 is getting close to as much fun as a human can have.
