I want to learn SEO and Content Marketing, but I don't know how I can practice these skills without wasting my money.
I'm starting to read more info about these digital marketing skills around the internet and on this forum however, I know I need practice.

I want to know how I can practice and fail miserably in the most cost-efficient way.

Make your own website on free blogging platforms and make your tests there. Also, time is money, so in the end you lose money, even if is your own time.

There are multiple hosting plans that are very cheap per month (under $5/month).

On-top of that, you can get cheap domains for 1 year on godaddy for less than $2. Probably even cheaper.

There are tons of free link tutorial threads on the forum as well.

With SEO, you’re always gonna lose some money testing out niches/conversions, etc. But you can definitely minimize the amount you lose in the beginning.

Free SEO died many years ago. Today, SEO is an expensive game. Unless you're testing very basic on page stuff, everything else will cost you $$$. Starting with kw research and backlink tools. All these things used to be free back in the day. Not anymore.

Yeah, or you can try the old "build millions of handwritten articles and rank some day" theory and see if it works. Other than that, prepare to fork thousands in content and backlinks!

Don't know much about SEO but you can practise content marketing for free.

You can set up a professional looking social media account and start offering your services to small businesses/entrepreneurs. Who doesn't like free stuff. You can even ask for testimonials this way.

But content marketing is a big term, what do want to start with? Articles? Social media? Youtube? OnlyFans :smirk:

your money isn't "wasted" even if the ROI is 0. its been spent on learning, buying experience and knowledge

if you're too scared to spend money to buy experience, you can't succeed

SEO = not cheap, not fast. Don’t consider it a waste if you learned something from the investment. Even if you learned how not to do what you were trying to do.

What kind of account are you referring to for this? Personal account with our real name and photo or like a brand/company account to offer these services?

Real name and photos
I'm trying to picture it.

Doesn't this work only if you already have a strong following on social media and YouTube and are well known in the IM field?

Can you name an example of this so I can see what you mean?

If somebody had a strong following then there wouldn't be a need to work for free :p

I used to follow many instagram marketers a while ago. I saw many people with 500-1000 followers having testimonials from other small freelancers/coaches. You can offer the smallest stuff in exchange for testimonials like captions, brand mood board design, post templates etc. I don't use instagram anymore so I can't give you examples right now but I can guarantee you that you can find a couple of them in no time.

I know a lot of free blogging platforms include a subdomain wouldn't that be different than ranking a domain I purchase?

True.

I measure time as money too. So you'll be losing money. Be it in direct form or your time. But every failure is a lesson too. Multiple failures can lead you to success. But you'll have to burn either money or time. Cant eat and keep the cake at the same time.
