As far as I remember, every year people said that activity was declining, that people were leaving, that this was a year when everything would fall...
However, most people forget that the younger generations have yet to come and take over what we have all built.
To be direct for BHW, this is my view.
BHW is specific because of its community, there are maybe 50 - 100 people who really maintain this forum in a specific and unique way.
I think that BHW will not stop soon, maybe the activity will decrease and increase over time, which is normal, as long as there are similar people like we have around BHW, in the past and right now as I type so to speak, as long as we have a group of people who are ready at any moment to help, answer, buy, sell, joke around, etc., and make other people laugh, we are good...
That is my opinion, and I am someone who does not ask for much, there are those who give up on the forum just because someone will not share their knowledge with them, some new methods of work, tips and tricks, etc,. because they are lazy and they just looking for a "reason" not to do it... In the end, we don't need such people.
So, as long as there are those who are willing, as before, to help and share their knowledge with others, we are good.
Of course, there's a lot more that we can discuss, but mostly, this is what most things come down to, so I've given it importance.
Maybe today we get hit by a huge asteroid, maybe a nuclear bomb, maybe we will disappear forever...
Ahh, the way we behave and as much as we protect our only planet, we will not need any war, we will destroy ourselves, very soon.

This place is strange to me. Because I'm still a newbie and will be such for quite some time.
Nowadays we are used to everything moving fast. Food delivery - fast, internet connection - fast. Amazon order - super fast.
But BHW, - it takes some time to things change here(or you to gain some rep for example). It's hard to explain.
If I have to compare it to something - it's like a private club of internet marketing veterans.
It's really private but at the same time, everyone can come and go as they please.
Even as newbies, we are allowed to join, speak, ask questions, join discussions.
But to be heard and be able to speak - you must earn your place here.
And it takes time.
A lot of it.

There was SEO before Google, and the concept of being raked at the top existed even in the Yellow Pages era in the form of "A.A.A Plumbing Services" and such.

No, but I've been doing seo for a couple of years and I have learned a lot from several other IM forums/blogs

OP, you're not asking a dumb question because previously high flying forums like WaFo are now as lively as a Vanilla Ice Coachella crowd.
From what I've seen, it all boils down to MODERATION.
So far, BHW has done an amazing job discouraging the BS that killed WaFo while at the same time preserving the dynamic spontaneity every forum needs to flourish.
This is not exactly easy to do.
There are fast rising BH forums but much of their volume involves leeching instead of actual forum Q+A's, community collaboration and idea exchange.
