Yeah. A blast from the past. The battery was shit. I had to keep it plugged into the cig lighter all the way.

These were analog AMPS phones. By entering a # code, you could scan frequencies and listen to other users calls LOL! Great times.

Man, we looked at those phones like they were made of gold.

A time when parents still had authority over their children, a time when their word was respected.

It was all only 20 years ago, I mean, it is a long period, but it was not 200 years ago, what will the world look like in 20 years...

My generation probably is the last generation where we had respect for older people than us. My brother which is 7 years younger than me is so different than me in his character. I still respect and will try to teach my kids too (it will be hard but at least I will try). I was waiting for months to get the phone, now everyone has the latest version of the iPhone and Samsung, and they are flexing to other younger friends.

More precisely, a couple of months before Alcatel I had a model that I can't remember the name.

I remember he had an antenna you had to pull up... What a time man!

This is sagem mobile phone, my first ever phone in 2004. Getting it then from my sister makes me so so happy.

Motorola-MicroTAC-5200 back in 1994

This was 2nd gen TAC! The slightly earlier one had no rounded corners, or less rounded. I owned the bulkier earlier one after the car brick phone. My entire family shared a single phone.

Batteries came in 2 or 3 varieties. Green ones were best IIRC (?) but way expensive.

My wealthy buddies carried 3 to 4 green batteries and super fast chargers.

After that one came the wave of MicroTAC Elite's which were a major hit. I never owned an Elite, but my friends did. Carrying an Elite on the belt was a social status thing, since it was probably the first phone small enough (or not as big as the TAC) to carry on you.

My next phone after the brick was StarTAC (foldable), it put all the Elites to shame. I had 2 to 3 bubble gum sized batteries.

Then the Motorola era ended for me*. It was all Nokia into the late 90's and early 2000's. Then iPhone wiped the floor with everything else.

* I did get other Motos but they were no longer original Motorolas, but rebranded Google ones that just used the Moto brand. The original pioneering Motorolas ended with the StarTAC for me.

Samsung I remember it clearly I even remember what my ringtone sounded like lol wonder if I can find another ringtone like that. This was in the year 2000 by the way. I'm not 100% sure but pretty sure it had internet.

Yeah, I just took an image from google to show the youth how they looked, I remember the batteries lasted like 12 hours, IF, you did not use it and call someone, horrible experience and expensive to call with here in Sweden, I think the minute pay was something like 60-70 cents a minute .. =)
