Hi,
We have a WP website with almost +1k online users, currently, we use Nexcess (the largest package)
But their servers cannot handle most of the time (even after auto scale) and the site gets very slow! and after autoscale, all of the 45 PHP workers are used, while we use WpRocket for caching!
We almost pay +$500/m for hosting so we are not looking for a cheap solution.

What do you suggest? what do you think about using AWS (we don't have any experience with AWS so we have to use a manager)?

We want to use Fastly as our CDN after the migration (they don't have a Hosting offer). Do you have any experience with them and their prices?

Thanks

1k users online and paying $500 for something that can't handle it?

Read my opinion here : https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/best-wordpress-hosting.1379561/#post-14948972

In your case you are looking for VPS with about 8-10GB of RAM , PURE SSD storage and at least 2 CPU (4 better) at 3.5Ghz minimum (pay attention on this as lot of hosting providers are providing 1.5-2.5Ghz )
I recommend Webuzo or DirectAdmin panel. If you don't know how to do basic service configuration you can pay someone to do it for you or pay the hosting provider 1 hour of sys admin support (or just opt-in for managed VPS hosting). You will end paying about 100 - 150$/ mo MAX.

Need badass performance? Consider using CDN - I recommend Bunny.net

You will close the cycle with less than 200$/mo for your traffic.

I'm getting tired repeating the same again and again.. there is no such animal as WordPress Hosting.. unless that you are paying PREMIUM for limited resources.
But hey.. people are still paying premium for "SEO Web Hosting" and in same time are using CloudFlare in front of it

You first need someone who knows how to properly set up a dedicated server, which you can get for like 300-400 usd from ovh.

Thanks for these helpful tips.
It seems I have to choose the option you mentioned.
our main problem is its management, for this part we have to trust some one or ask the host provider to do this (if they have this option)
I have contacted Digitalocean and Vultr to get their offers for my case. They are in holy days and no answer yet.

BTW, do you know anyone (in BHW) who can manage this kind of servers?

And Bunny.net seems good suggestion, I was considering Fastly for CDN but it seems Bunny is much cheaper!

I recommend you go with 8GB RAM and choose managed
https://javapipe.com/ddos-protected-vps/ (you can add managed and save!)

They are very good, they have high skilled team. I guarantee they will put your website fine and with good ddos protection against bad guys.

Get a dedicated server from hetzner or ovh , install nginx instead of httpd and install some database caching mechanism which is usually the bottleneck and your problem is solved

You're getting scammed, badly.

Have a look at "Koerge" hosting, i have their Managed VPS Gold plan for $40 and i can handle 7k concurrent visitors on my Wordpress site without a problem. 1k should be a piece of cake. Also ditch the expensive FastlyCDN for BunnyCDN. Optimize your WP site as much as you can, compress it etc..

Since money isn't a problem for you I suggest to go with something like kinsta.com I think their services will handle your traffic easily contact them first so you can negotiate for a better offer .
Dedicated server or VPS will be always better option though in both performance and price wise .

You are welcome.

I cannot suggest anyone really as there are some years since I stop using anything than our own hosting services but from what I hear from members here and there DO and Vultur are good BUT they DO NOT Offer MANAGED service so you will have to look for 3rd option.

Regards,
Stephan

You should checkout NameHero as they might have something for you

Bro, even the $5/m Contabo VPS can hold up to 2000 current users at the same time....... and that VPS has really really old hardware (=better to find other solutions).
For management just buy the pro plan from runcloud.io, it's $15/m and they handle all the security and optimization of your machine and your wordpress site

What do you think about runcloud.io? Have you already heard about them?
I found out that they configure and secure the server (Vultr servers) for us (atomically) and make the management easier!

You can check cloudways or rocket.net

And yes.. Bunny CDN is great!

I remember having 2000+ users, paying $500/month back in 2016... it was all about finding the right man for the job(a badass freelancer) .... a great backend dev can make your current server eat up 4000+ users easy... so before you spend more money on a server, fix/optimize your current setup.

Yes the backend has a lot of problems. It is in our plan to fix it in next 3 months. I am looking for a temporary solution for now, which we can use it in future expansions too.

It’s better to check if any plugin or theme or a script is eating your resources, 1K online is nothing
