Facebook is cracking down

My largest group with millions of members and largest page have both just been shut down. I've been in this for a while and it seems like facebook has been really cracking down lately. I also know of other people in similar situations that have just arisen recently. Do you think FB is starting to catch on. I've never really had problems like this before. I have a connection (who warned me about changes and gave me valuable info before to keep my groups out of trouble before) and I'm going to ask him what's up.

Has anyone else here been experiencing this? Do you think they will start cracking down on multiple accounts on one IP? I personally don't think so but it's possible.

The question is, is the groups traffic worth anything? I had one of my groups banned fast. Never have been able to get a CPA conversion yet. What are good offers to do if the traffic does convert sometimes?

Its more than in-site stuff like groups... I got a letter insisting I take my site down due to Facebook being in the domain name.

This was 3 days ago and well, Fuck NO, I am not doing that... Not without compensation for my domain and time. My efforts are just as valuable as the next mans, ya know? Any dumb ass can see facebook is used as a noun, not in an attempt to make the site seem like it is authorized, endorsed or sponsored by Facebook.

Er look, you're infringing on their trademark and you want them to pay you for doing it? They have millions of dollars and an army of lawyers..you aren't going to win that battle and you made a bad move right from the start by regging that domain.

Count me in LiamLC. Yesterday i got one of my popular group banned and i warning of getting my account disabled. It seems that they are really cracking down. Wish they dont mess with my facebook account. Thats my primary one

I don't remember where I saw it, but Facebook around the Fall ( when they were working on security and privacy issues before the Google data-collection ) developed some algorithm to track "bad" links. I think the measure was both to track illegal copyrighted material and scam/fishing/spam links.

When it is reported, they check to see how far the permeation went ( what groups have the links, what users posted the link ), and then they usually delete groups/users promoting the links.

I wonder if the new deluge of lost accounts is due to going after the URL first and then the user, and not vice-versa. This would be better, since they don't have to care much about the IP/user than the actual link to the website itself.

This is only my hypothesis; I put up a music link from some torrent site and I was banned a few days later. I came back on after a week. But I read they have something that can track links; anyone else know about this?

Boy you really have alot to learn dont you. Your bordering on Cybersquatting and there are stiff penalties for thinking they should pay you would just because you think that using a noun is a domain name is ok. Its not, and if i was you i would abandon the domain name before you end up in a courtroom.

I hate to break this to you but trying to hold on to a domain with facebook in it is like trying to climb Everest Naked in a storm, lol it's never going to happen.

I feel for you I really do, but to be fair they are worth tens of billions and like that other guy said they have an Army of lawyers that will have this issue done and dusted before you even start (lol you have infringed on their rights, so to expect them to pay you any compensation for that is a dream)
You're lucky they don't sue you!

It will never go that far anyway because if you say no they will contact your host and get them to shut it down with a threat of legal action. just take it down, lol what did the domain cost anyway like 5 bucks.

About the whole cracking down thing though, I recently had 7 accounts closed that I used to post links on the walls of some of my groups, all in the same day, so the link thing I think could be true, use crappy accounts to post links, don't use ones with friends or pva status as they will just get shut down.

Touch wood I have not had any groups shut down yet, except for zynga game groups that I make totally false claims with, however that does typically take 2 - 3 weeks.

All I can say is that something is definitely up and all I can do is hope that its just links that are reported, most of my groups are now small niche groups so the chances of someone reporting me is very low

Well as it stands I have 503 accounts, all have been logged in with from my ip I have never masked it, I log in with 300+ every day so I can honestly hold my hand up and vouch for the fact that they don't screen IP's. I did have 750 but gave 250 to my parents so they could get started so I have no doubt that's it's fine

However this as anything could all change in the future.

yeah, that's why I don't think it's going to happen. But they might start getting suspicious when you log in with a bunch of accounts and just add friends. Normal groups of people don't just log in add x amount of friends logout pass the computer to their friend and have them do the same etc.

Anyways, guys I would watch out for Feb 5, I heard a rumor that FB will be shutting down a bunch of pages that day. Idk if it's true, but I had a page running a black hat method that I developed and it someone gave me a heads up on this. So watch out!

Yeah I heard that Feb 5th is going to be a dark day for pages, thank F*** I only have 3 pages and hundreds of groups .

pages are great and all but they are a real headache most of the time!

If some of you can remember a few months ago they sent out messages to page owners that had a certain amount of fans and above that they would have to confirm their legal right to have that page, well i know 50+ people that didn't do that so i know that most of the page owners have not done this, it was all to do with the fact that you could communicate with people on their status updates with pages, they have seen how people abuse this, (lol the idiots that fuck it up for everyone) and have taken measures to prevent it.

I have no doubt that hundreds of thousands of pages will get shut down over the span of that week.

Great convo here... pages shutting down? I clearly do not have a problem with this. I am currently linking all my facebook groups to my pages. Meaning if I lose one leg, I still have the other.

There are millions, and I mean MILLIONS of people of facebook. People will still continue to spam and etc on groups and pages and it is impossible for facebook to keep up with MILLIONS of people doing it

Yeah that's right, they will never eradicate spammers but I'm sure they will catch on much faster than before

there also going after facebook greasemonkey programs a lot of people who have websites that make extensions for games on fb have been getting dmca notices >.>
