Just received an email from Lemonarian. He's basically saying to "mix it up" by leaving some linking hubs disconnected from the money site and never closing the wheel entirely. I think we've all realized what was up and started doing that, anyhow....

Hi everyone...
Since I discovered the LinkWheel methodology back in February 2009, a lot has changed.
It's not nearly as effective. When I released the report, it quickly became viral and everyone and their grandmother was doing LinkWheels left and right... a lot of people made money.
Now, it seems Google's caught on.
So I recommend you STOP doing perfect wheels and start mixing it up.
The real power comes from interlinking the web properties. There's nothing magical about the "wheel" structure. That's really just a name.
The power, as I said, is in interlinking them.
So mix it up as much as you can at all times.
Remember not to do reciprocal links.
In closing, here's an example of how you could "mix it up":
Also notice that I never "close" a wheel.
And oh, if you blatantly copy that... well that might not be the best idea, since a couple thousand other people is getting this email.
MIX IT UP!
The principle is still valid, just try to leave as little footprints as possible.
Stay cool,
Linus

Ah, well I just received it and judging from the thanks given, some others didn't see it until now, either. I've been doing this all along, myself, though. so its not a big deal IMHO.

This is retarded by some kid, theres nothing mathematical about it. Just 'mix' it up lol? The other facet is it just looks complex/good, so people go 'ooooo, ahhhhhh...' It would make more sense to see how big G passes rank amongst them to your advantage. Even if it's using that old PR formula.

Lemonarian is a member of BHW and has contributed a lot of valuable information to BHW (as many
of the members will tell you). So, I wouldn't be so quick to call him retarded or to dis his knowledge.

Agrrrrrr. this is becoming difficult !

How can you link between rss and social bookmarking?

Geez this "method" is so overhyped...I always wonder why people so caught up with stuff like that. Does every noob really believes that some free ebook method is going to make him rich? It's just good as any method you invent or use (if it makes sense), it's not a magic button that makes your website rank ridiculously high in matter of minutes. All you need is work and creativity...

"MIX IT UP" - that phrase should be the motto of everything you do when it comes to anything you do - Xrumer blasts - yeah mix them up, blog spamming - remember, mix it up :), social bookmarking - again, mix it up...etc :P But it's just my opinion...

Well I just ordered some massive wheel today, but will have a bunch of wheels going in deep so I'll have to go in and add a couple of mixers.

The wheel I was getting was going to be open ended anyway.

A backlink is a backlink :)

Yes, any backlink is better than no backlinks.

But if you are going to take the time to do these, you want to leverage your time most effectively to do less work and get more bang for your buck.

Like what Wiz said don't be so quick in calling him retarded. I have had the chance to talk to him personally. He is a smart young kid and for the most part he knows what he is talking about.

I already wrote a report about the same idea (Mixing up the link wheel). I have done lots of research on the subject and I can tell you what he is saying is true.

I agree - back off on the Lemonarian attacks. You don't agree with what he's saying - don't follow the advice.

As for "mixing it up" - check out my free tool. It is designed to help you MIX it up:

You can download it from here:

Drag and drop objects into your diagram and visually "see" how the links are laying out. Use the Social, Bookmark, and Comment objects to document and organize those links under each category.

Hope you find this useful!

fair enough, just would be better to have some science behind it.

The linkwheel is one of the biggest ideas to take hold on BHW in the past year. Its popularity on this forum is mainly due to lemonarian's PDF, which shows the base concept well.

Since I discovered the LinkWheel methodology back in February 2009
However, I must say that lemonarian in no way discovered the concept. He just standardised it, simplified it and promoted it, to the benefit of a great many individuals. The original idea has been in use for almost a decade now, a better name for it would be the mini-net and I think we should go back to using that name now, as the "wheel" structure seems to have been well and truly busted by Google.

Lemonarian does deserve credit for developing the mini-net to increase the power of the interlinking branches to maximum efficiency in terms of authority / relevance transfer, and creating an eloquent guide to demonstrate this concept.

But so many hundreds of people have got completely the wrong idea from lemonarian's PDF - they have repeatedly copied the see-through, blatantly obvious six spoke wheel thousands of times over.

Now everyone with a linkwheel is paying the price and they are becoming increasingly intensive to make. Also, the chance that they will flat-out fail is much higher now, which means that spending all the time on the content and signups is a risky venture without the help of SENuke.

"_______' Internet use policy restricts access to this web page.

This Websense category is filtered: Proxy Avoidance."
[lol - My employer's firewall (websense) blocks just about everything, including every proxy I've tried to use. It took me months for me to get them to unblock BHW. Will definitely dl this when I get home later.

What i'm curious about is how do you link out to 2-3 other sites from a 2.0 web property?

Link Wheels are looking more like webs?

Here's one I'm utilizing. For the most part I copied it from the image from the OP and added a few things.

What do you guys think?
