Keyboard (music instrument) recommendations

Anybody here that plays keyboard? (Not sure if it's the correct term in English, it's basically a type of piano but smaller)

Looking for one that can have headphones plugged in and that has a stand, so that I can sit in front of it on a stool or my stability ball.

Any recommendations?

It depends on your use. If you want one to practice piano, plese don´t. Just buy a digital piano. Most Yamaha and Roland digital pianos are good.

Any synth will do but Korg, Yamaha, Roland and Ensoniq are best.

How about the idea of a midi keyboard? I have a 64 key one from m audio. It was pretty cheap (costed around $150) but it depends on your usage. Midi keyboards can only work with computers and special midi equipments. Won't work with a headphone directly.

If you need a fully featured synthesizer, go for any 64/88 keys one in $300/$400 range from Roland/m audio etc.

Roland FP10, for just playing piano and midi keyboard

Yamaha P150 (not sure if you can find a new one) but that was the one I had for over 6 years and still working till now. I only play the moonlight sonata (1st MOV of course lol) as a classical piece. Other than that I'm using midi files to learn.

I'm looking at them now, they look pretty cool.
I want to spend one hour a day learning something new, and I think this is a very relaxing thing to do.
Planning to do it before bedtime, so I can stop watching video's on my phone and actually sleep well for once.

Sounds good Yamaha make good ones normally I had a few before.

Most cheap keyboards do not have weighted keys like a real piano, so they play more like an organ. If you are serious about learning to play piano then you need the weighted key action that has that aftertouch feel. If you just want to hack around and are not serious, then a cheap keyboard will be fine for you. MIDI is a nice addition if you can get it and hook it up to your computer.

ewwww thats a bad one I think. It does not even seem to have multi voice/touch (or whatever that is called)... so you can't play chords on it even lol. Plus there's no pressure sensitive keys, no midi out, no sustain pedal in... You will hate it

Just visit the store to buy the keyboard. It's best to play them before purchasing so you know you are getting something you want

I think it's a good idea to just get a cheap keyboard to see if you enjoy it and then you can always upgrade to a nicer one if you really like it

Yes, it's always better to try it in the store if you can before you purchase. I just checked out to see what eBay had. I saw 88 Key MIDI USB Electric Pianos with weighted keys for $122. They have built-in sound, a headphone jack, a sustain pedal, and a power supply. All you would need to get is a stand and bench to sit on, or use a good table with a chair. Go take a look!

Of course, but with that kind of keyboard you can eventually make so much money with which you could buy all the music keyboard models.
