[Journey] Building an iOS & Android App Empire

he already said that he is half thai half german and is currently in Germany but regularly spends time with his parents in Thailand.

@nakamura
did you ever manage to get featured on the appstore?
I am full german, but digital nomad lifestyle living in Thailand and other countries sometimes.

Yes, once my app got featured and it was also in the Top 5 in the Entertaining category in a few countries for a few days.

How did it affect your downloads for that app and the quality of them( alot of immediate uninstalls?)

I have a sort off-topic question.
Are you from Germany?
Is this business of German writers in your profile link run by you?
It sounds terrible to set anything google related as the main source of income.
Yes, from Germany.
Well, the Germanwriters.com website is created by me. I made it to help my friend (also german), who lost his job due to the pandemic. He has a bachelor in literature, writes stories and so on. So I thought it would be nice to help him out.

Yes, you are right. Its a very bad idea to fully rely on Google. The problem is: The Google Play Store is a monopoly. If you are an Android developer and you don't publish your apps on the Google Play Store you are missing out more than 90% of the customers.

Its like Bing and Yahoo search. No one gives a fuck about them...you have to rank your website on Google. Or same with Vimeo and Dailymotion, no one cares about them either...YouTube got all the users.

So...there is not really a choice...in my opinion Google is just evil. They terminate accounts of businesses, giving them a lifetime ban and not even replying the appeals. Its like the worst thing you can possibly do. Its throwing someone into jail for life without any trial or reason. I have no idea whats going on in their mind, but guess what? I am going to contact them on LinkedIn and see what they are going to say.

I really don't get why you keep making native apps for only 1 store when you could just use flutter and cut your work in half...
What is it that prvents yoi from doing so? Is your skill in flutter worse than native, is flutter incapable of some stuff or is it Apple that becomes a bitch when you use flutter for their appstore?

I have more than 10 apps on the Apple App Store, also made with Flutter. Usually, I publish on both. I also got apps on the Huawei and Samsung Store, but traffic is extremely low there. Apple is not a problem. They never deleted one of my apps, never had any trouble with them.

So, the whole thread went down to complaining about how bad G is.
But as far as I understood, you have practiced reskinning apps. If so, then was not this predictable and also kind of “fair”? Quickly get, quickly lose

Why you don't just create web apps and instead struggle with mobile apps?

Hi and thanks for great information related your journey. Kudos to you!

Quick Question:
How do you handle the flutter app size? (I am learning it)

thx

I've always been considering moving to Thailand or Bali, you're living the dream my friend :DDD

Not really struggling. I am making around $90-130 daily from apps in profit. The only thing pissing me off is that I could make much more.

So, you were reading 21 pages. Impressive. I didn't reskin other people's apps. What I was reskinning were my own apps (which I coded myself) when I reuploaded them.

Ouch. Me thinking everyday for the past 10 years. Currently someone one-ups us. We must one-up them.

Think this: every employer is one-uping their employees. Every marketer wants to one-up FANG.

You skipped answering my question.

Ok. Then what was the reason for reskinning them? Or let’s say what triggers G at you? Your apps have sensitive content, mislead or what? I just don’t get why would G start cancelling someone without a good reason. There must be something. It would be extremely useful if you shared the real clue to this confrontation. Please don’t get offended by my messages. I respect anyone’s way of making money, but I just want to figure out this techical side of your case. It would be useful for every app developer I believe

I am by far not the only person this is happening to. After some research, I found a lot of people got their legit accounts deleted for "associated accounts"..and these are only the ones who are speaking out. And I want to clearly say this again: There is a difference between a personal and a business account. A business is a legal entity. This business account is not even registered on my name/address/anything else. Google can not punish a business because of one of its employees, especially not so randomly with "associated accounts".

First of all: Before I had trouble because my competition was mass reporting my apps. After blocking certain countries, this problem disappeared. These were mainly developers from Thailand as far as I know.

Then I made a big mistake: I updated some apps on some accounts on the same day and they probably figured out the apps all belonged to the same person/account. Now it seems they somehow put the code/app and the IP on a blacklist, which gets triggered every time I make an account. This is just a theory.
