I've been a Jr Exec for 6 or 7 years, a member here for 12+ years, with 3,500+ posts and nearly 7,000 likes...

I received a PM today titled "Demotion From Jr. Exec" with zero notice saying:

Hello KraftyKyle,

We're messaging you today to inform you that, due to some changes we're making to Jr. Exec, we're removing the few remaining Jr. Exec members who did not make into Exec.

If you wish to rejoin the ranks of Jr. Exec, we'll have a new process by which you'll be able to potentially rejoin at a later date after we've revamped the section entirely.

------------

I was given zero notice of such changes, nor given any reason for being demoted besides for "due to some changes".

It seems odd though that they're dropping the Jr Execs that didn't meet their seemingly subjective criteria (maybe there was a vote?) and also even weirder that they're dropping a longtime Jr Exec like myself to then tell me to "potentially rejoin by the new process".

I've tried searching but haven't been able to find anything about such changes either.

What's going on? Wouldn't it make more sense to honor my longstanding status that was given by being voted in as a Jr Exec? I'm incredibly surprised that I'm being blindsided by this unfair action after all of these years of being a Jr Exec.

Does the 5 characters really mean so much to you?

Welcome to the dark blue side

Jr. Execs, in addition to their title and distinct username colour, also have access to their very own subforum. This subforum contains methods and guides that have not been disclosed anywhere else on the forum.
Thank you for sharing that with me.

Interesting, I haven't seen any changes coming to member upgrades.
Dude, you are still a well-respected member regardless of color. The name is worth
more than a badge. There are some yellows around here that are OG.

Reputation dwells in the minds of a community and ass kissers who salivate over
badges aren't the ones you network with anyway. =)

It's kinda like having an A+ rating with the BBB. Pay to play on that one haha.

There have been plans in place for a while now to revamp the Jr. Exec and Exec usergroups, along with the forums they have access to. This announcement was posted in the Jr. Exec section last year, if you recall, and a public announcement is going to made regarding this once we're finished cleaning the sections up.

To answer your question, there were a total of 6 Jr. Execs that got demoted today. There aren't currently any Jr. Execs because the remaining Jr. Execs either got promoted to Exec based on a poll in the Exec section, or they were demoted for inactivity. You've made 3 posts since February, and one of them is this thread complaining about not being a Jr. Exec, so you can imagine how you got lumped into the 'inactive' category.

Just to be clear, this isn't because you're not valued as a member, but simply because you aren't active on the forum as much, and it appears to others as if you've moved on from the forum. This happens, and it's not worth punishing anyone over.

This has been a problem for years now, but despite the forum growing in size, the Jr. Exec and Exec usergroups have continued to stagnate. Regarding the 'subjective' criteria, it's a formula the staff will be using to promote active, role-model members into Jr. Exec. The formula is not being revealed to members to prevent abuse (I'm sure you recall the old "Jr. Exec method" some attempted to use to get into the group only to get more sales on the forum). Exec will continue being a group you get voted into. Once the sections have been re-organised and cleaned up, a large number of members will be sent invites into Jr. Exec by the staff members.
can I ask what's the actual advantages of being Jr Exec (other than the name)?
I'm pretty sure they get a private forum.
They get a private set of forums, although we're looking into other benefits to give Jr. Execs.
I was given zero notice of such changes
Please see the first paragraph.

On a related note, I'm not sure why it perplexes everyone when they're demoted 'without notice'. If we gave notice to anyone we're demoting from Jr. Exec or Exec (or from the moderator usergroup), then we'd run the risk of giving them the opportunity to hastily download all of the content in those sections. Whilst it may seem considerate to give notice, it's ultimately a security risk. Regardless, the warning signs are always there, as they were for the inactive Jr. Execs who had access to the various announcements and culling-inactive-members threads available in that section.

I know right, out of nowhere, me too. I wanted to reply to that pm but thought fuck it what's the point. The big threads I posted to help people out are still being read, I got way more likes than I have reactions, it feels a bit like a kick in the teeth after all these hours I put into it and even my threads got bhw new members and people returning.

The PM also said because you didn't make Exec.. How were you suppose to be exec in the first place, the majority of these guys are never online and the once that pop up every now and then, they dont give a fuck about Jr execs even though most of them haven't contributed nearly as much as other Jr execs and me and they are only execs cuz they've been around for a long time and made a few threads that back then were interesting.

I read zwielicht said the execs voted, Pfff they don't even know what's going on on this forum, the only exec that is active and only for his sales threads is Tommy.

But hey, screw the title, it hadn't had any advantages I cared about, they should've set the edit time for threads on endless for example but it's the same for as everyone else, that would be a feature worthwhile but jr exec was nothing more than Jr vip with a different color although I understand it's bs they demoted us after the effort no matter what year it was placed. As said the majority of execs don't contribute jack, did they all get demoted?

But it's cool, BHW hasnt motivated me in a long time to post big threads and tutorials anymore and this down vote, for principal reasons certainly doesn't help.

I'll just pop by every now and then, answers some newbie questions every so often and the rest of my thoughts about this new system and new bhw I keep to myself.

@KraftyKyle @Billy Batts calm down guys while venting is fine just don’t end up saying something in anger which can further mess this situation why not do what you’ll do best post, engage and get promoted back. I know easy for me fo say this but i Yet felt I should.

I don't say anything wrong, just saying how it is. Explain to me how Luka, and no offence to the guy, got promoted to exec while my reaction score ratio is way higher, most likely because he has a BST. @Zwielicht said Kyle got demoted due to inactivity, Luka's last post was in march and before that 1 reply oct 2020, 1 reply in sept, 1 reply in aug, 1 reply in july, then all the way back to march 2020, hows that for inactivity?

As said above, not going to post what I really think. Peace.

Ah yes, must be even more exclusive methods than the exclusive Jr. VIP subforum.

I think that's a little unfair as there are also some other Execs who are only "active" (in their BSTs)...

The ironic thing is one Exec hasn't posted anything meaningful on BHW for the best part of two years, but they are very active posting on another forum. They only use BHW to sell which seems to play a role in keeping their Exec badge.

All ten of the Jr. Exec's names were put forward in one poll. As the majority of the execs voted for @LukaB, he was promoted to exec as a result.

Although, as you pointed out, he's not been as active as he should be, and other Jr. Execs and Execs have been culled for the same reason. I'll forward this to the rest of the staff members as his account should be reviewed despite being 'yes' voted into exec. Additionally, there really needs to be a hard number on that inactivity rule just to make things clearer, so I'll look into adding that in myself.

This wasn't properly stated in the PM the other admin sent to the culled Jr. Execs, but if you read the line I quoted above, after the Jr. Exec section is done being renovated, invites were going to be sent out to a few of the culled Jr. Execs in addition to the invites being sent out to dozens of other new Jr. Exec.

That means, @KraftyKyle and @Billy Batts, the demotion was potentially (that's the key word here, as it was used in the PM sent to you) temporary for you two whilst the new Jr. Exec Zone and Jr. Exec benefits are being reworked. However, the recent content and current demeanour of those Jr. Execs who have been demoted will be taken into account when these invites are sent.
